"You're back," she said.
She didn't seem surprised; in fact she was smiling smugly, like she knew all along.
"How did you even know I left?" Toby asked, flatly.
"I always know where you are, even when I was blind I knew," Jenna replied.
He doesn't doubt her statement but he wouldn't let himself dwell on it either; he couldn't go back to be terrified of her anymore.
"Well, I didn't come back for you," he said, instead.
"No, you came back for Spencer Hastings," her voice was calm when she spoke those words- calmer than usual. "But the girl has proven herself to be untrustworthy, isn't that why you left in the first place? Is there really any difference between her and me?"
"I don't know what you think you know, Jenna, but you're wrong; no matter what Spencer does, it'll never be as bad as what you did to me."
"You say you hate Rosewood and yet you still keep coming back here," Jenna continued, as if he had never spoken at all- he hated it when she did that. "You say you want to be free of me, you even had it tattooed on your body- it's cute really."
"As nice as this has been," Toby interrupted, his voice completely lacking in sincerity. "I really have to go now."
She grabs him by the arm, with the lightning fast reflexes that had only improved with her new state of sightedness, her nails digging into his flesh.
"You've marked yourself with a reminder of everything that we had- I'm in your head and you know it," she hissed, the expression on her pretty face making her look utterly terrifying- her eyes looked as cold as stone, like she was somehow still wearing those damned sunglasses.
"You can believe what you like," he said, not having the energy to convince her. "But I really do need to go."
She smirked a little, releasing her grip on his arm (which had gone slightly red where she had been holding it).
He walked away without saying anything further, his resolve strengthened further; he knew he'd never give in her coercion or her threats again, he knew he'd never go back to her.
She watched him walk, still smiling the smile of superiority; she knew that, even if he didn't believe it, he would always end up coming back to her- one way or another.
He would never be free.
That's it for this fic; I was thinking about how lacking in Toby/Jenna interaction this season has been so far and this short scene came into my head. Please review; I love any feedback that I can get!
