It was a Friday night in Norfolk, Virginia when Leroy Jethro "L.J." Sheppard was walking down the road. It was late long past the time need to be home. L.J. didn't care since he hated his uncle Jasper Sheppard and his uncle hated him. He rather be Staying with his "Uncle" Leon Vance but his mother Jenny Sheppard had left him in the care of his Uncle Jasper since he was 6. He didn't move in with because his mother died, it was before that. He was kidnapped a few months before he turned 6 and she want to her (and Leroy Jethro Gibbs') little boy safe. People always wonder why L.J. walked everywhere. Well that because Jasper sold L.J. car for money.

L.J. knew his uncle would be angry as he approach the house and wonder if he should turn around and go to his Uncle Leon's house since was going to NCIS with him tomorrow. Sadly, it was too late seeing that he was already outside the door of his house. When he got to the front door, he noticed something was wrong. Sure the front door was never locked but that didn't mean they left it open during the night. When he saw that he walked over to his neighbors, the Banks family, and knocked on the door. It wasn't unusual for him to do this and they always seem to make sure he got home alright since Jasper could care less. Marie Banks opened the door and looked at him.

"I think someone broke into the house. The door is wide open," said L.J.

"L.J., how do you know he wasn't drunk and left the open? Go home before he wakes up and hurts you," said Marie closing the door.

L.J. walked to the house and up to the door. This time he looked inside the house and saw Jasper on the ground lying in a pool of blood. L.J. back away from the door and call his Uncle Leon's house phone. His Aunt Jackie answers the phone.

"Aunt Jackie," said L.J.

"L.J. its three in the morning. Is something wrong? Are you all right," said Jackie worried.

"I'm fine. Could you put Uncle Leon on the phone," said L.J.

Jackie woke up Leon and told him it was L.J.

"L.J.," said Leon.

"Uncle Jasper is dead," said L.J. trying to stay calm.

"L.J., I'm sending a team over on," said Leon.

Gibbs' team is the only team on call so, father and son will for the first time but not in a way either of them would want to.
