When the Avengers move first came out in theaters Xander begged Spike to go see it with him. He was just so excited Xander had been waiting for this movie for what seemed like forever. So when the date was released for the movie Xander started making plans to go see it. Spike automatically turned him down saying he wasn't into that nerdy shit and told Xander that some of the slayers had to be nerdy so go bother them.
Of course there ended up being a lot of slayers and watchers that were into comic books and they ended up doing a marathon of the previous movies before going to see the Avengers. Spike thought he was in hell for the next five months until the movie finally came out because so many of the slayers would babble about the damn Marvel Universe. When the event finally came and past Spike thought he was done hearing about the Avengers and he was until the DVD came out. And for a year Spike managed not to see any Marvel movie. That was until he started to date Xander.
Somehow the Scooby had conned Spike into a Marvel marathon. Even the movies that had nothing to do with the 'phases' whatever the hell that meant! Really though the movies really weren't that bad. Except for the Daredevil and Fantastic Four movies. Watching the movies however did not make Spike want to read the comics much to Xander's dismay. Spike did think it was cute when Xander would says quotes along with the movie. It was obvious that Xander had watched these movies... a lot.
Spike understood why Xander liked these movies though. The good guys always won with minimum casualities from their own group. Xander could get away from the losses he suffered and pretend for awhile that it didn't have to be that way. Though Spike was sure in the comic books there were a lot of deaths of the famous characters Xander loved so much. And when the time came that they happened in the movies Spike would be there to comfort Xander.
"Avengers is my favourite movie," Xander said half way through. "They remind me of all of us. We don't always agree on how things should be taken care of but in the end we come together and save the world. Some of us even have super powers."
"And some of us are the heart of the group. The glue that keeps us together," Spike added.
Xander didn't reply but he did snuggle in a little closer to Spike, not that Spike minded in the least.
When the movie ended and the post credit scenes were watched Spike had to admit he was curious who the big purple guy was. He guessed he'd be seeing any future movies to figure it out. But there was something else that was bugging Spike about the movie. So Spike turned and looked at Xander. "I have one question," Spike said. "What the hell happened in Budapest?!"
