AN: This was something I had written in a compilation of Sirius drabbles that I took down, but this one was by far my absolute favorite, so I thought I'd rewrite it.
James Potter was ecstatic. It was the day he had hoped for, dreamed about, for years. It was the day we married Lily Evans soon-to-be Potter. He could feel the cheesy grin on his face, but somehow he didn't care.
Lily walked down the isle slowly, her white dress flowing around her ankles. She was nothing short of beautiful. She placed her feet carefully in front of James, his smile matching her own.
It didn't take long with the euphoria in the air for the time to come for those two famous words to be said. The words that would make it official. The words that would make Lily Evans, Lily Potter.
But he couldn't say them. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't make his lips form those two one syllable words. He opened his mouth again, but nothing came out. He began to panic.
Sirius kicked James lightly in the leg, gaining the attention of a bridesmaid on Lily's side. Sirius whistled and raised his eyebrows at the blonde before tugging James around by his tux sleeve.
"What do you want, Sirius?" James whispered.
"I have waited and schemed way too long for you to just drop out now. If you don't walk out of here with a wife, and me and Moony spent our teenage years looking after your lovesick, hormonal arse, I'm going to be very, truly, pissed," Sirius said with a glint in his eye.
"Do you not think I'm trying, Sirius?" James said, wondering how he could turn around during his wedding and have a full blown conversation with his best friend but couldn't say two words to the woman he loved.
"Say it, James,"
"I'm trying!"
"Say it,"
"I'm trying, alright?" James was getting annoyed at this point.
"Say -"
"Give me the chance to and I will!"
"It -"
"Sirius, quit!"
"James,"
"Sirius!"
"Stop talking to me and go say it James! It's not hard! Here, say it with me, 'I do'," Sirius said. The blonde bridesmaid began to giggle.
"Do you, James?" Lily asked, tears forming in her eyes.
"I -I do," James said, his voice raising to a pitch he was neither familiar with nor comfortable with.
"WHOO! YEAH!" Sirius yelled, jumping up an down and clapping his hands.
"Mr. Black, Ms. Lily hasn't said it yet," A house elf that Sirius had never even seen before informed him.
"Oh. Right. Carry on!" Sirius said, settling back down.
"Do you take James Potter, Lily Evans, to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do," She said.
"CAN I CHEER NOW?" Sirius yelled, although he was already cheering before the two even kissed.
