Lullaby for an Earl
Black Butler Parody of "Lullaby for a Princess"
Version 1: Reaper version, sung by Jacky Anderson for Grell
Fate has been cruel and Order unkind.
How could I have hurt you this way?
The blame was my own, the punishment yours.
And now Will has sent you away...
But into the darkness, I'll bring you a song,
And I will your company keep!
Till your tired eyes and my lullabies
Have carried you softly to sleep...
(Flashback to Grell and and Jacky looking down on London from atop Big Ben)
Once did a Reaper as fair as the moon
Look out on Great Britain and sigh
She smiled and said "Surely, there is no Reaper
As lovely, or so well-respected as I...!"
So great was her skill, so brilliant her glory,
That long was the shadow she cast,
Which fell dark upon the kind uncle she loved,
And grew only darker as days and nights passed.
Soon did that Reaper take notice that others
Did not give Grell Sutcliff his due,
And neither had she loved him as he deserved.
She watched ash her uncle's unhappiness grew.
But such is the weight of the curse that we bear, uncle!
Duties we always uphold
And that foolish Reaper did nothing to stop
Her uncle who slaughtered and left hookers cold.
(Switch to Grell and Sebastian fighting)
Lullay, Grim Reaper, goodnight, uncle mine,
Rest now in starlight's embrace.
Bear up my lullaby, winds of this earth,
Through cloud and through sky and space!
Carry the peace and the coolness of night,
And carry my sorrow in kind.
Uncle, I love you more than you know.
Forgive me for being so blind.
(Shift to Jacky standing atop Big Ben alone, hair blowing in the moonlit breeze)
The judgement before us,
Fearful and unknown!
I never imagined
I'd reap souls all alone.
May your long confinement
Swiftly pass, I pray!
I love you, I miss you...
Can you say the same?
May all your dreams be sweet tonight
Safe upon your bed far from the lights.
And know not of anger, envy, or care.
And when I dream, I'll break away and meet you there.
Sleep... Sleep... Sleep...
