Do you think I don't know that you're out on the town

With all of your high-rollin' friends?

Marian shook her head, lost in memories. He'd left her, so many years ago and broken her heart.

What do you do when you come up empty?

Where do you go when the party ends? And you were just too busy being fabulous

Too busy to think about us

I don't know what you were dreaming of

Somehow you forgot about love

And you were just too busy being fabulous, uh-huh

They'd been engaged, and then he'd left for war. Left for all the glory, for king and country. He'd had this ridiculous notion that he was needed. One less soldier surely wouldn't have made a difference! She'd begged him not to go, to stay with her. They were supposed to be getting married.

A little time in the countryA day or two to slow down

A bottle of wine and a walk in the moonlight

Maybe some foolin' around

And then he'd come back, expecting forgiveness. He'd thought, stupidly, that she'd take him back. No chance. But turning him away-that had hurt her more than she'd expected. She was almost surprised to find out how much she still loved him, even after five years.

But you think time is just a magazine

And money's just a thrillI've waited so long for you to change your way of livin'

Now I realize that you never will

And then he'd been outlawed, but he was still the same person, sort of. She could see he'd been…calmed down, slightly, by war and all the terrible things it brings with it. But he was still so overprotective, so stubborn and he never gave up. How many times had he tried to seduce her?

'Cause you were just too busy being fabulous

Too busy to think about usLookin' for something you'll never find

You'll never know what you left behind'

Cause you were just too busy being fabulous, uh-huh

Yet he didn't seem to realise that things would have to change. They would never be the same again, because a dynamic had changed between them. Him leaving had changed her, forced her into complete independency, and she'd never looked back.

He'd never know what their marriage could have been like, because it had been his fault that it never happened. Her love for him had changed.

You tell a joke and everybody's laughin

'That's something you know how to do

You've always been the life of the party

But now my baby, the joke is on you

Chasing glory, it had come back to haunt him. He'd been trying to save people from the kind of thing that had almost killed him. The Holy Land, he'd been naïve and taken it lightly when he'd first gone. Now it was anything but a light subject.

'Cause you were just too busy being fabulous

Too busy to think about us

Running after something that never comes

What in the world are you runnin' from?

He refused to talk about it too. Well, he rarely mentioned it. She'd thought, while he was away, that he'd been too busy chasing the glory to think about her. She'd been wrong.

And you were just too busy being fabulous

Too busy to think about usTo drink the wine from your winner's cup

To notice the children were growin' up

And you were just too busy being fabulous

Too busy, too busy

Too busy

Aw, baby
