The Smell of Amortentia
Oliver Wood was known to be a boy with an incredibly one- track mind. Whenever he wanted to do something, he wouldn't stop until he got it. The biggest example is Quidditch. Oliver Wood was obsessed with Quidditch.
It was the 3rd practice of the week and Oliver was making his team work their arses off. "George, if I catch you staring at Alicia one more time…" Oliver yelled from the hoops. "Aww, come on mate, I need some time with my girlfriend." George yelled back, making Alicia blush. "Well, you're practicing, so Alicia is just a team- mate.' Oliver was getting mad at his beater. "Well, maybe if you had a girl, it would be easier to relate…' George challenged his crazed captain. Before Wood could return his remark a voice cut in, "George, stop harassing Oliver, and Oliver its pouring rain, maybe we could stop now!" Katie Bell was staring straight at Oliver when she said this. "Fine, but tomorrow, you all are doing 5 laps around the field." Oliver was seething mad. 'They don't care about the final.' Oliver thought as he exited the locker room.
As Oliver went to sleep one sentence was re- playing in his head, "Well, maybe if you had a girl, it would be easier to relate…" Oliver snorted, 'yeah, once I find the girl…'
The next morning the Oliver meet his doom, Potions…Double potions.
"Today, we are going to make the potion Amortentia. This is a very complex potion and I do not expect any of you to be able to make it." Snape sneered. "Can someone tell me what Amortentia is?" Snape was having a field day. "It's a potion that creates obsessive love.' Percy Weasley, the know- it- all answered. "That is correct Mr. Weasley, 5 points to Gryffindor. But, next time do not call out, I will take 10 points away for that."
"Now, start brewing." Snape went to his oily fortress.
"So, Percy, mate… be my partner." Oliver sucked up to the brain. "Only if you win the cup Wood." Percy scoffed. "Deal!" Oliver was sure to pass potions.
After an hour Percy finished the Potion with minimum help from Oliver. They had half an hour left till the class was over.
"Sir, we finished the potion." While Percy was trying to convince the professor that they had finished, Oliver took an extra flask in case Snape tried to break the case.
"Okay, class since Mr. Weasley and Mr. Wood have finished so quickly, let us ask what they smell." Snape was a greasy git. "Mr. Weasley first."
Percy took a sniff out of the cauldron. "I smell parchment, ink, books, and…" Percy stopped and a rather outstanding blush covered his face.
"Yes, Mr. Weasley…what do you smell?" Snape and the class smirked at the Weasley blush.
"I…I s-smell… I smell Penelope Clearwater." Percy stated with a faint blush. Snape laughed with the rest of the class as he saw Penny's face.
Once the class stopped Snape turned on Oliver, "What do you smell Mr. Wood?"
Oliver took a sniff, he was sure he would not smell a girl.
"I smell leather, broom polish, dewy grass, and…" Oliver took another sniff. "And oranges." Oliver said the last slowly and unsurely. 'Oranges… I don't even eat oranges.'
Snape sniffed, "Well, get back to work."
As class ended Oliver wondered why he smelled oranges.
As he came to the Gryffindor table, he sat down next to Fred and George Weasley.
"Hey, Ollie! Did you hear that our dear brother Percy is dating Penelope Clearwater?" Fred said as if he didn't believe it.
"Yup, I was his partner. But, I kn-"Oliver got cut off by the smell of oranges.
He looked around wildly. What or who was giving off that heavenly and slightly intoxicating.
Then, he saw something that threw him off completely.
Katie Bell came closer and the smell became stronger.
"Uh, Katie?" Oliver was intoxicated.
"Yeah?" Katie was carrying some oranges.
