Another random oneshot that was written when i should've been hard at work on my other stories. I'll get to them i
promise! For now read this.
StraitJacket
When I first thought of telling my parents who and what I was, I thought about this for weeks before letting somebody know. And even then it was months before anything was actually done about it. I even told Clockwork about it, and he even let me see some possible futures before making my decision.
"He never showed me this one," I muttered under my breath. But I was getting ahead of myself.
I finally made the decision a few days ago. I told them in the living room, right after dinner. I now replayed that scene in my mind…
"WHAT? That's impossible sweetie. A human can't be half ghost." My mother insisted.
I had decided not to change in front of them. 9 times out of 10 when I changed in front of them they shot first. I now regretted making that decision.
"But it's true," I insisted. "I'm half ghost."
"Even if you are a ghost," my mother said, "which one are you?" I looked at my father before answering. He had been quiet this whole time and I was worried that he might shoot me anyway.
"I'm…Danny Phantom." My mother went white. My father nodded as though he had been expecting this. I was confused. I thought it was the other way. My father would've been shocked and mother would've been expecting it. "It's true," I continued. "Even Jazz knows about it."
"Why didn't you tell us, Jazz?" my mother asked.
"It's Danny's secret and his decision whether to tell you or not." Good old Jazz, I thought. A smart answer to everything.
My mother thought about this for a minute. Then my dad whispered something into her ear. She nodded and told me what she thought.
"I love sweetie. I'm sorry you didn't trust us enough before to tell us." That was good enough for me.
They had known exactly how to make me believe them. My own parents lied to me because they thought I was…but they weren't to blame. They thought they were doing it for my own good. Finally today they told me what they really thought about my being Danny Phantom. I was shocked. But I calmed down and accepted their decision. Later the men came and took me away. Jazz, Sam and Tucker watched. Unfortunately Dash was passing by.
"Hey, Fenturd, before I thought you were just a weirdo. Now you're a…"
"Shut up Dash!" Sam interrupted. She shouldn't have bothered. I never really cared what he thought of me. As I was seated in the back, the men positioned themselves on either side of me. I would have phased out of their grasp (secret or not) except for the ghost repelling bracelet my mother put on me which also happened to short out my powers. She said it was to keep me safe from ghost trouble. Hah! Like I could ever be safe from ghosts living in this town.
"So, you're the kid who thinks he's Danny Phantom eh?" The driver looked at me. I said and did nothing. "We've had worse." He started the car and turned around.
That's right. I, Danny Phantom, protector of this town had been deemed crazy and was trapped in a straitjacket.
What do you think? Stupid? Impossible? The best damn thing you ever read? TELL ME!
