A/N: Not... really so much of a fic as a teaser for things to come. I've been working on a DW(10th Doctor)/Thor crossover fic with a good friend of mine, so expect that to pop up at some point. She introduced me to Doctor Who, so I introduced her to Loki. This is something of a prequel, both to the aforementioned fic and to Abaddon, which is on this site somewhere.
Future Imperfect
Loki watched the man in the suit with the fly-away hair as he paced about the room on long legs, fidgeting restlessly, his thoughts a-whir behind large, dark eyes. The god of mischief chuckled into his champagne. The universe could be a delightfully small place at times.
Moving as silently and as smoothly as a shadow, Loki slithered through the crowd until he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Time Lord. Loki was glad the Doctor still retained this body, since it cut a rather attractive figure in his tuxedo, and Loki was tempted to sift his long fingers through that wild hair the way he had once sifted through the Doctor's wonderful machine of a brain. There was so much that spoke of chaos and destruction in this man, and Loki, as the embodiment of Chaos, saw in the Doctor a kindred spirit, perhaps even an equal.
He was feeling rather generous tonight, it seemed.
"Good evening, Doctor," he said smoothly, staring placidly ahead at Dr. Lazarus, the human fool who was, at the moment, speaking animatedly to the crowd about his newest invention. Loki hid a smirk in another sip of his champagne as he felt the Time Lord's eyes shift to stare at him. "It is good to see you well."
"Do I know you?" the Time Lord asked guardedly. Those expressive eyes were narrowed but alight with a flurry of questions.
Loki merely smiled and leaned in to whisper conspiratorially into the Doctor's ear. "Not yet," he said. Green eyes met brown for a long moment before Loki melted back into the crowd and out of the Doctor's sight.
