Lily leaned back against the goose feather pillows that lined the birthing bed and sighed. Down the hall she could hear the whimpering coming out of her newborn daughter's lungs. Pushing herself up, Lily clasped her head in her shaking hands and let out a soul wrenching sob.

It was that baby's eyes that had confirmed Lily's secret.

They were grey.

Not a match to her green, almond shaped eyes or James' hazel ones.

No, they were a perfect match to Sirius.

That one night of longing passion had led Lily here. To a small church at the edge of Godric's Hollow giving birth to a beautiful baby girl created with her husband's best friend.

"She is healthy miss," the aged nun said as she entered the chamber, handing Lily the squirming infant, "I will leave you two alone." Lily held her daughter in her arms. She was wrapped in a pink blanket, her ivory skin lined with silken red hair that matched her mother's. The baby looked at Lily and smiled, her grey eyes sparking.

An hour had passed when the nun once again entered the chamber, "Miss, the family is here for her. They want to know what you will name her."

Lily looked down at her daughter and back at the nun, "Pandora. I have named her Pandora. She is both my curse and my hope. Please, make sure they know how much I love her and how much I wish I didn't have to do this." The nun nodded and silently took Pandora from Lily and left the chamber.

As the carved wooden door closed, Lily once again began to cry.

"Good bye Pandora. I love you. But this is the best thing I can do for you." she whispered before gathering her belongings and leaving the Church herself.
