Disclaimer: I don't own Sam or Dean, and no amount of wishing will make it come true... (sigh)

A/N: This poem came of an assignment for school in which we had to write a Shakespearean sonnet. After wasting most of the class, this was the inspiration that came to me. I hope y'all like it!

The Beginning

Bright flame burst forth against a sky so dark,

Engulfed the stars and turned night into day.

Three men escaped the house without a mark

And watched the ashes fall and embers fade.

And though they felt an end had come to life,

Their only hurts lodged deep within their hearts –

Sweet Mary dead, a mother, friend, a wife.

They left that town in search of a new start.

Surviving were two sons called Sam and Dean;

Their father, Mary's loving husband too.

He was a rough and rugged ex-Marine

Who wished the truth of Mary's death he knew.

John found a man who went by Pastor Jim

Who could explain th'unnat'ral unto him.

A/N: Well, tell me what you think! I had thought of the possibility of turning this into a series of sonnets, telling the epic story of the Winchesters, but that all depends on the response this one gets...
