All of the mysteries were over and Sibuna had since grown apart. Now it was the morning of graduation and Fabian was finding himself unable to move on from this place. Unable to let go of his friends. Unable to let the memories be just that, memories. Most of all he was unable to let go of Nina. His Nina.
He wanted to be able to go back in time and relive his whole high school experience. It had actually been the best four years of his life. Because of her. She was all he thought about, all he dreamt about. She was his everything. It had always been that way. Ever since he first laid eyes on her.
They had tried dating a couple of times but the seemingly endless mysteries always stood in the way. He had never given up hope though and, although Fabian didn't know it, neither had Nina. They were, after all, the only ones who remained somewhat close after Sibuna disbanded.
Fabian glanced at the clock. Eleven o'clock. Time was moving too fast. He didn't want the day to end. The end of the day meant leaving and leaving meant saying good-bye. To everything. To Nina. If only he didn't have to say good-bye to her.
Then he had an idea and suddenly he felt a whole lot better about graduation. There were just a few details that had to be worked out and Fabian spent the remaining hours before the ceremony doing just that.
The time passed quickly but Fabian didn't care anymore. He was excited for the night's events and now it was almost time for them to start. Fabian finished getting dressed and stuffed something in his pocket before heading to the school. It was a ring. It had been his grandmother's and it really meant a lot to him. Soon it would be Nina's.
The graduation ceremony seemed to last forever. When it finally ended the students all gathered to say their good-byes and go their separate ways. Fabian spotted Nina and walked over to her. She had tears in her eyes as she said, "I'm going to miss you so much."
The corners of Fabian's mouth curved up, forming a slight smile as he replied, "You don't have to." Then he pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. "Will you marry me?"
The tears in Nina's eyes flowed faster. This time the cause was not sorrow, but joy. She was nearly speechless but still managed to say one little word. "Yes." And it was exactly what Fabian wanted to hear.
