This was a story request from rayshippingfan, an Ash/Cynthia fic. I've never really looked into these two as a couple, but hey, it was a request :) So here you go rayshippingfan!

Please do review :) Not the biggest fan of this ship, but oh well :) And yes (obviously) I accept requests. Please do not send me requests that are slash, M rated, anything like AdvanceShipping or shipping to do with May not being with Drew, because I am an extreme Contestshipper, so this is the first story I've written I think that isn't to do with the two of them together…

Yeah, enjoy :)

She watched him as he hugged his pikachu, yelling something that couldn't be deciphered from her standing point. Her blonde hair waved around her face in the wind, as did her black clothing, and she breathed in welcoming the breeze and the salty smell it brought with it.

His raven hair moved also, revealing the chocolate brown eyes that shone with warmth as he embraced his favourite pokémon, and his torterra stood behind him.

She smiled. The bond between pokémon could be hard to forge at times, and the Sinnoh champion knew that, and sensed that this trainer had been through that, and she felt a connection with him, for she had been through that with her pokémon.

The bond between human and pokémon should be rejoiced, commemorated, celebrated. She continued watching him, until the ebony haired trainer turned to look at her. He smiled.

That smile. The smile that showed the bond between him and his pokémon. The bond that showed how much he cared about something.

The bond that champion and challenger shared, an invisible bond that was a force.

And Cynthia smiled, that grin that represented the link between the two.

And yet that was all it would be – a challenger to champion link. A silent oath that they would always be friends, an invisible tie to prove that they were one in the same.

And for the blonde-haired champion, that would have to be enough for now. But some day, she thought as the raven-haired trainer made his way back to where he was staying, someday that tie might just bring them closer. And someday, the two might just be something more than unspoken friends.

Someday.

Cynthia smiled to herself, going to turn around to head back to her room, when the said boy himself called her name.

'Cynthia!'

She turned around expectantly, hoping that he would tug in the unseeable rope that would bring them closer.

'You were great today!' he called, waving. Cynthia gave a sad smile that went unnoticed by the other trainer, before nodding her head in response.

'So were you!' she called in response. Ash grinned.

An inch, at the most, that had gone from the rope. One inch closer. Only thousands left, she thought. But her back was straight, for she had taken a step forward.

And the binding between the two was still there, thick and unseeable. But shorter. Closer to each other.

And she smiled at the thought.

'I'll see you around?' he asked, still petting Pikachu. Cynthia nodded.

'Yeah, you'll see me around!'

Inches were gone, and there were still inches to come. But for Cynthia that was fine. For Cynthia, that was another day. But today, the bond was there.

And that was all that mattered.

Ookayy… I never write stories for this, so… It's probably extremely OOC and weird, but this is just what I saw, picturing Cynthia from the game and Ash from the anime (obviously). I honestly don't really see how this could happen, and it isn't the romance genre… if you think it should be, do tell me :D
