Drabble – Secret

Several people watched them pass as they walked around the tents. Both were limping and they pace was slow. Occasionally one of them would grimace and then they would both stop for a moment till the pain would go out of his face. The other would hold onto his hand or put a comforting arm around his waist.

By all rights, neither one of them should be a live. The battle had been horrendous and both had sustained life-threatening injuries. An arrow in the chest should have ended the Kings life and the axe that sliced into the thigh of the other should have drained the blood from his body. But they both had survived.

More than one head shook in amazement was they passed. It was no secret how the men felt about each other, if anything, they were closer than they ever had been. Both knew that they were lucky to able to make this simple walk around a few tents, especially with the one beside him. They no longer tried to hide the love and respect they felt for one another.

The secret of their relationship no longer matter, they came too close to losing it.
