The Doctor Discovers Silly Bandz

"Just look at how cool this stuff is!" the Doctor exclaimed, bounding up the steps to the glass platform encircling the TARDIS' console and coming to a stop before a very bewildered Rory and a very annoyed Amy. He thrust two handfuls of brightly-colored rubber bands in front of their faces and then spun around in a circle, crowing victoriously, ridiculously delighted with his newfound treasure.

Amy groaned. "That stupid American fad ended months ago! And besides, only nine year olds wore them." Remembering who she was talking to, she gave up and turned to Rory, raising a threatening finger. "This is your fault for wanting to go to 2010 America. He'll be on about this for days now!"

Rory raised both hands in a defensive stance. "It was for the 'Philadelphia cheesesteaks,' not the random 'Dollar General' trip!"

Returning to the Ponds, the Doctor singled out a pale green band and grinned, overjoyed with his American dollar store discovery. Moments after he set it on the palm of his hand, it untangled itself and became the silhouette of a short creature with enormous pointy ears. "It's the little green one from Star Wars!" he explained, poking it with one finger.

Rolling her eyes, Amy turned away and plopped down on the TARDIS' leather bench seat across from the console in a most undignified fashion.

The Doctor stretched out the green band and rolled it onto his wrist, then added three more bands, a blue rectangle, a red dragon, and a yellow five-point star. Tucking the remaining fistfuls of bands into the pockets of his light brown tweed jacket, he straightened his bow tie and crossed his arms over his chest, making sure to keep the bands on his wrist clearly visible. A self-satisfied smile settled on his lips. "I wear Silly Bandz now," he stated proudly. "Silly Bandz are cool."

Rory just smacked himself on the forehead with the palm of his hand.
