I opened up my 3DS to play Tomodachi Life, for college and whatnot took me away from it over the years. I was still yet to know that a few years away from the island changed everything...for the worse.

My island, Crazyplace Island, appeared in its nighttime setting, while it was daytime in the real world.

It never did that before.

I visited Mii Apartments, in which the first Mii seen, Mario (named after Lemieux, of course), had hearts around him. He was in love! What did he have to say?

"I've been having feelings about Misty. I've got to tell her!" (Misty, named after the Pokemon anime character.)

He asked me what he should say to Misty. I chose a pickup line.

He asked if he should change. I changed him into a suit and tie.

"Where should we meet?"

I chose the best option of them all: the beach.

At the beach:

Mario met up with Misty at the shore, complimented by a romantic sunset.

"I wanna slap-shot your five-hole.", he said with a wink.

"I'm sorry," her voice echoed. "I just can't."

The screen cut to white, then back at Mario's apartment, to where he had his head down, a rain cloud pouring down on him.

"I just, I can't. What is life?" he asked, in a lower tone of voice than usual. Without me giving him anything, he pulled out what looked like the rope used for the swing, but tied into a...noose.

"I'll go hang this from the ceiling." he said, slowly and sadly.

"Why would you do that?! All this, over Misty?!" I was furious and in denial the whole time. What version of TL was this?!

The screen cut to white, then into Mario putting his head through, about to kick the stool away. This was when I threw my 3DS across the room, caring less if I broke it or not.

Is this what happens to Miis after you leave them alone for a long time? They kill themselves?!

The 3DS, unharmed, was picked up. It was off. I turned it on again, to play TL again, hoping that a different, not-as-nightmarish scenario would take place. Right?

No. It got worse from there. Wayyy worse. And I didn't even know of it.
