The world did lie in sin,
Men knew not God,
When He came down to Earth;
Him we bring laud.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
'Twas Mary, saved by Him
From her own womb:
The babe that she delivered
Was God's Son.
She laid him in a stall
At Bethlehem.
The ass and oxen share
The roof with them.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
And Joseph, too, was by
To tend the Child;
To guard Him and protect
His Mother mild;
The angels praised the Lord
And said these words:
Gloria in excelsis
Deo.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
He lived a perfect life;
But to a tree
Men nailed Him and He died
For you and me.
But then He rose again
The third day,
Ascended into heaven.
Now we say:
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Now on the Father's right hand
He doth sit.
He'll come to judge the living
And the dead.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
A/N: This spinoff poem was born one day when I was playing this song on the piano and then realized that there were a lot of things theologically wrong with the lyrics, but the music was AWESOME and some of the lyrics were good. I hope you like my version. If you do, please review. If you don't, please review! :D (No, I am not trying to rival Celebrant.)
