Prologue
It was a wet and rainy Halloween night and the inner circle of the order of the phoenix was having one of their meetings in their usual meeting room. This meeting had been called because their spy Severus Snape had said that the dark lord was planning big though he could not find out what it was. It was probably to do with the prophecy through. The fact that he wasn't a member of Voldemort's inner and was mainly used to brow potions meant that by the time he learned of imported plans it was too late in most cases
Lily and James potter set around the table with the other members. They had an uneasy feeling about leaving their children at home with only peter. The only reason they were here was because peter had convinced them to turn up, thought at the movement it was looking like a waste as they had found nothing they could add to
Suddenly James let out a gasp and quickly jumped to his feet. Sirius who had been setting next to him looked up in alarm and said James are you alright. James replied someone's on the house grounds who shouldn't be and then run out of the room. The others looked at each other and run out after him expect for snape who had to keep his disguise. The reason they were running was to make it to the edge of the Hogwarts grounds so that they could apparate because they couldn't floo into the house due to the charms stopping floo travel also they had to apparate to the edge of the wands because of the Anti-Apparition charm
Regulus black was running down a street toward a burning house. He was here because he had felt his mark burn and grew fainter. He knew that meant that the dark lord and his former master had lost a lot of strength. Regulus was happy about this because it meant that Briton could hopefully have a chance to rebuild after the war
Though he wasn't fond of muggles he didn't see why the dark lord went and attacked them for no clear reason and also why did he have a problem with part humans when it wasn't their felt they were like that. The dark lords had also killed purebloods sometimes even wiping out entire families and there only was the fact he was a half blood
When he got to the site of the burning house the first thing he saw was a group of people trying to put out the fire. Looking around he saw a 1 year old lying in the ground walking over to the child he bent down and felt a pulse. The child was still alive and he sensed a great deal of power coming from this child. He decided then that he would raise this child
Picking the child up he turned around and started to walk away with the child in his arms thinking that no one had seen him. When he was outside the anti Apparition wands he left. Though no one had seen him someone had sensed his presence and was currently thinking about whom the person was when a name came to the front of his mind and he whispered regulus and wondering if he had changed.
