Disclaimer; Dear Paramount, evidently you have never heard the saying "Give the people what they want" or J/C would be canon.
A/N; Here be mush.
"There is a legend, about a woman warrior who led her tribe through unknown lands.
To all those who knew her, the woman warrior was strong and brave. What she never let anyone see was the loneliness in her heart.
She lead her tribe as well as she could; devoting her every thought to them. And this helped her forget the emptiness inside her.
One day, her tribe captured a war party. She knew their strength could help protect her tribe so she asked them to join her and they accepted. Their leader was an angry warrior; strong, proud and handsome. And when she looked into his dark eyes, her soul cried out for him. She fell in love with the angry warrior, but feared how her feelings would affect her ability to lead her tribe. So she hid her love, even though doing so brought her unimaginable pain. For many years, the lonely woman warrior continued to hide her love, hoping that the angry warrior would understand. But as she continued to deny her feelings, she became afraid that the angry warrior would leave her. Gathering all the courage she possessed, the woman warrior vowed to tell him that she loved him. That he was the only one who could fill the emptiness inside her heart. She only hoped she wasn't too late."
Kathryn gazed into Chakotay's eyes, waiting for his reaction.
He took her hand in his and asked, "Is that really a legend?"
Kathryn smiled at the words, echoed from so long ago, "No, but it does make it easier to say."
Chakotay softly kissed her then gathered her up in his arms, "I would never leave you, Kathryn." He whispered, "I love you. I will always love you."
