Third Person POV
Will promised to meet Nico after his shift in the infirmary. But that was still 20 minutes away. Instead Nico sat waiting at the tables in the dining pavilion.
He closed his eyes and rested his head and arms on the table. Nico's ADHD started to act up and he began tapping his foot.
Nico checked his watch again. 18 minutes and 47 seconds. This was going to be the longest 20 minutes of his life. He began to hum to himself, the words only in his mind.
Here comes the sun. Here comes the sun and I say. It's all right.
Nico continued to hum, attracting the attention of Leo who happened to be walking by.
Leo sat down next to Nico, and Nico looked up at him.
"What do you want Valdez?" Nico asked exasperated.
Last time Leo had asked him for something it had resulted in Nico's hair turning pink for a week. The Hermes cabin was coming up with protection spells for their cabin lately. Katie Gardner went to go visit her boyfriend and came out with wings. Granted they were quite small and easily removed, but it took a lot of stolen chocolate to make up for it.
Nico glared at Leo, but he was didn't even react. For some reason Leo was glare proof except when it came to Annabeth. Every time Annabeth so much as looked at Leo he flinched. That was the reaction Nico was hoping for, but no such luck.
Leo had a little smirk on his face.
"Now did I just hear you humming a certain tune?" Leo asked.
"Do you think I would be caught dead humming Valdez?" Nico answered.
Nico was a little nervous on the inside. Leo couldn't just go around telling everyone the terrifying and mysterious Nico was humming. It would ruin his reputation.
"I'm pretty sure you were humming," Leo said.
Jason was walking up to the pair and heard Leo.
"Wait," Jason said, "Nico was humming?"
"Yeah!" Leo said enthusiastically, "You should've heard it! It was lovely! Like Broadway worthy!"
Jason chuckled at Leo's choice of words. It was good to see Nico in such a good mood though.
"What was he humming?" Jason asked.
"Can you guys stop talking about me like I'm not here?" Nico said angrily.
They continued to completely ignore him.
"Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles," Leo answered.
"Would that have anything to do with his boyfriend being a son of Apollo or is it a happy coincidence?" Jason inquired.
"Nico?" Leo turned to face him.
"I heard," Nico said.
"And?" Jason asked.
"I'm choosing not to answer," Nico said simply.
Nico checked his watch again. 8 minutes and 31 seconds. He banged his head on the table. Meanwhile, Jason and Leo continued to talk about Nico's relationship as though they were from the Aphrodite cabin.
Nico attempted to tune out Leo and Jason's conversation, but he still caught snippets of it. Something about roses. Nico hoped they couldn't see his blush.
About a week earlier Will had shown up at Nico's cabin with a dozen roses. He even had the idea to make them black. It was such a romantic gesture that Nico kissed Will on the spot. On the down side, half the Aphrodite cabin, most of his friends, and a few people from the Demeter cabin were watching from a distance. It sort of ruined the moment.
Nico looked at his watch again. Less than a minute. He glanced up towards the Big House and saw Will walking towards him. Song lyrics came back into his head, and this time he sang them softly.
"Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting…"
Will finally reached the dining pavilion, and Leo and Jason had, had the sense to leave.
"Hey Sunshine," Will greeted Nico, "Ready for the movies?"
Nico's face broke out into a smile, as did Will's.
Nico took Will's hand in his and the faded into the shadows.
