Resident Evil
A series of short pieces from the game. (Based on the GameCube remake.)

I don't own anything to do with Resident Evil/Biohazard.
When Rebecca is attacked by a Hunter, the player has a choice of saving her or letting be killed. This is piece number one -- Rebecca dies because Chris wasn't quick enough.
With the secret key he'd acquired from a small puzzle box, Chris was able to open the door closest to the back gate. It appeared to be a study of some kind with a large open window in front of the door. It was dark in there but the young man was able to make out a lamp on the desk. He switched it on and the room was bathed in light.
Chris leaned on the desk and let the fresh air wash over him and fill his lungs, erasing the stench of death. Man, this place was a death trap and he couldn't shake the feeling that he was close to his own demise.
He stood erect once more and looked around the room. Not much to see really, just books, books and more books. One thing caught his eye on a cabinet to his left. It looked to be a hexagonal object like the one he used to open the iron door leading to the outside, except this one was smaller. Chris picked it up and pocketed it; maybe he would come across a use for it.
There was nothing else of interestā¦
The scream made him jerk and lift his head. It came from a room above⦠oh God, Rebecca. Chris hurriedly left the study and made his way upstairs. As he ran along the balcony there was a bang on one of the doors. Yes! He knew exactly which room she was in. He burst through the second door, through a corridor, not bothering or even caring to watch out for zombies - all that mattered was Rebecca.
He held the shotgun tight as he crashed through the door.
There was a gurgling scream as he watched in horror as the green beast slashed at the poor eighteen year old. She dropped to the floor, he dying eyes latching on to his. Unconsciously, he lifted his arm as if reaching for her.
"REBECCA!" he screamed.
The vicious thing that had attacked Rebecca reared its large head and slowly turned on large clawed feet. Chris looked at it with disdain and pulled up the shotgun, aiming at the impossible creature.
"SON OF A BITCH!" he roared, squeezing off a deafening blast.
The single shot hit the inhuman thing in the chest but did not seem to injure it, although blood sprayed from it. It didn't stop - it screamed however and ran at the young Redfield. Another blast ploughed into it, this time in the face and it went down, writhing on the soft carpet, bucking as the life faded from it.
Chris was trembling from the encounter and slowly walked over to Rebecca. She was looking out at him with glazed, watery eyes and it took him a second to realize that there was no life in them.
Rebecca Chambers was dead.
He dropped to his knees. Jesus, first Richard and now Rebecca. He looked down at the wound that had killed her, across her chest right through her Kevlar vest. He reached out to her face and closed her eyes.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
