It had been an excruciatingly long day for Quinn Fabray, with morning Cheerios practice and an afternoon Glee meeting. The hazel eyed cheerio wanted nothing more than to collapse onto her bed the second she returned home, but from the looks of her driveway, she would be forced to stay awake awhile longer. There was a black Benz in the driveway next to her mother's silver Volvo. Quinn parked her car along side the curb. She was not familiar with the black vehicle, so it could not belong to one of her relatives.
She tiredly trudged up the stairs of the porch, carrying her sports bag and backpack. Checking the doorknob, she realized the door was open and entered her home. This house has not always been a home to her. For fifteen years it was just a place where she lived, but never trusted it with her heart. After her mother, Judy, divorced her father, Russell, and she was allowed back home after her pregnancy, she finally felt a sense of security.
Entering she could here her mother's voice, which was complemented by the laughter of a man. She followed the chatter to the living room and could easily see her mother having what seemed to be a comfortable conversation with an older man who seemed to be in the same age range as Judy Fabray.
"Oh, Quinnie! There you are!" her mother exclaimed, finally noticing her daughter.
Both Quinn and the man made short eye contact before Quinn looked back at her mother.
"Um,Yeah. Glee practice ran a little later than usual".
"Well, now that you are here, we can get this show on the road" Judy said happily. Quinn looked at her mother in confusion, she had no clue what her mother could have been planning. The younger blonde took a seat on one recliner while she waited for her mother to elaborate a bit more.
"So, Quinnie, this is James Elric. We have known one another for a few months now", her mother said excitedly as the now named man, James stood up from his spot on the couch to shake Quinn's hand nervously. Quinn accepted his hand, "Hello, James", she greeted shyly. Her mother continued once James was back in his sitting position.
"James and I are getting married!" The older woman announces in an elated fashion, her smile fully reaching her eyes.
Quinn sat in the recliner in pure shock, eyes as wide as dinner plates. Judy watched her with an enormous face plastered on her face, but it slowly fell when she realized her daughter did not seem as happy as she was. The cheerleader had stopped breathing for a few moments before she started to feel uncomfortable fro the lack of oxygen and took in one big breath. Quinn stood up shakily and walked past her mother and James, and made way for her bedroom. Her mother was not one for practicable jokes, so this could not be for a few chuckles. Making her way up the stairs, Quinn gripped the banister with all her might to keep her upright. This had to be some kind of bad dream. Her mother would not change their lives out of the blue. Would she?
Quinn curled herself into her bed. This whole situation felt like a bad dream. She just had a baby, rejoined the cheerios, and was allowed back into her mother's life and now there was another thing to add to her list of changes. What was worse was the fact that her mother had only known this man for a few months. He could be a serial killer for all she knew. Did he have kids? Is he from here? Would they have to be uprooted and leave Lima? Quinn had no clue. What really worried her was if this new guy was anything like her father. Quinn would not be able to handle being free only to go back to being locked under the stairs, metaphorically of course.e She needed a Sirius Black, not a Vernon Dursley.
