Kitty, Sugar, Marley, Ryder and Jake all attend Joe's church. The girls talk about their ordeal. They sing Pennies from Heaven.
At the end of Mercedes' church service, a large black man asks her about the concert. She says they're accepting additional singers. They make an appointment to discuss it later.
After church, Kitty talks to Joe about his feelings for her. He sings As long as you love Me.
Mercedes talks to the black man. He sings The ballad of John Henry, hoping to sing it at the concert.. He reveals he was in glee club six years ago. He asks if she's available. He thought Sam was a new convert because of his hair and clothes. He hugs her too long and too tight.
Will's mother visits him. With flashbacks, he reveals his feelings for Emma since the day he met her. He sings She's so high above Me.
Mercedes arrives at Sam's apartment later than expected. She tells him about the black man and Matt. Sam gets visibly jealous.
Kitty gets a call from the young hillbilly. He was released from jail yesterday and the others are threatening his life. He asks her for a place to hide.
Sam and Mercedes sing Fever.
The intern calls Rachel to ask if she'll sing with him next weekend. She says she'll be in Lima anyway for the concert. The concert ends two hours before his gig, so she says yes.
Kitty calls Joe about the young hillbilly. He says he can stay with him.
