The sun had just set as I stepped foot out into the frosty December air. It was usually colder this time of year, but it was still just as cold as winter. A few flurries fluttered down to the soft snowy ground. It had only snowed a few times this winter. We were supposedly getting a heavy snow storm this evening, but I doubt that.

I walked down the driveway to where my red truck sat. I hurriedly opened the door and shoved the key into the key slot. It took a moment before the heater really kicked in. I sat for a moment, letting the heat surround my frozen body.

I knew Alice would be waiting for me. She was the one who planned the whole thing, like always. Curse Alice and her likings for parties. But I guess it was time for celebration. It was New Year's Eve after all.

I pulled slowly out of the Charlie's driveway, trying to watch out for the black ice that lay beneath the new layer of snow. Turning a few side streets, I quickly arrived at the Cullen's large home. Quicker than I had wanted it too. I had expected more traffic in the tiny town of Forks, Washington. Sadly, there was none.

The second I shut the car off, Alice was already bolting out the front door towards me.

"Bella!" she shouted with cheer. "Are you ready to celebrate New Year's?"

"Not really," I answered glumly. I was hoping the evening would go by fast. The faster it goes by, the sooner the party ends.

"Well, too bad! Come on. Everyone's waiting inside for you!" She grabbed my hand a dragged me into the house, where the Cullen's family sat, ready to begin the night.

It was time to start the New Year's Eve celebration with the Cullen's.
