The day started as any other day. Twenty-two degrees by noon. The traffic backed up all the way to Timbuktu. A chorus of horns and screeching breaks. What do you expect for downtown Dallas at Christmas.
In other words I hated it. I always miss the blistering heat of late spring, summer and early fall. The sun making the ground a searing one hundred and twenty degrees.
My family and I were going Austin for winter break. Even saying that word makes me shudder. My little sister, Mary, was watching god-knows-what movie and I was reading one of my favorite books, Glass Houses.
Now one might wonder why I hate the cold so much.
Well, I'll tell you why, but later in the story.
This year was even more cold. We had a winter blast. In result leaving behind two inches of ice and one and a half feet of snow. I refused to go out side and quote ' make family memories'. I still refused.
It got a little warmer as we went south, for which I was happy.
