"Where are we going?" Chopper asked.
Nami smiled, "Just wait a minute. We're almost there." She kept her hands over his eyes. Robin giggled a bit and followed.
It was a warm spring day and the crew had stopped by a town. Nami noticed how sad Chopper looked for the past few months. His moping became affective in his work. Someone had to find out what was wrong.
"Chopper?" Nami peeked into his room. He was lying in his bed, staring at the ceiling.
"What?" He looked to see who it was, "Oh. Hi."
"Hi," Nami said. She wasn't sure what to say, so she just asked, "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah," Chopper replied, doubtedly, "Why wouldn't I be?"
"Well, you've been so sad for the past few months you gave Luffy a crutch for his broken arm, gave Zoro cough medicine for his headache, and haven't eaten in days."
Chopper shrugged, "Maybe I'm just distracted."
"By what?"
"My lovelife."
"What lovelife?"
"Exactly," Chopper turned back to stare at the ceiling. Nami took the hint and left, knowing exactly what to cheer him up with.
DAYS LATER
"Are we there yet?" Chopper asked. He was beginning to get impatient.
"Not yet." Nami said. Chopper could hear people strolling. After about 20 minutes of walking, he heard animals.
"We're here!" Nami removed her hand, revealing a farm. A reindeer farm.
"What are we doing here?!" Chopper yelled.
"Getting you a girlfriend!" Robin chirped.
Chopper's face was full of horror, "Why?!"
"You seemed so sad on the ship with everyone else dating," Nami said, "And Valentines Day is next week!"
"But you know how other reindeer hate me!" Chopper yelled, "What makes you think-" He was cut off by the sight of a pretty, young female reindeer, grazing near others.
Robin followed his gaze and smiled, "You like her, don't you?"
Chopper looked up, "Huh? Oh...no."
"Riiiight." Nami smirked. She walked up to the salesman, "Excuse me, sir, but we'd like to adopt a reindeer." Chopper looked back at the same female reindeer. She looked up at him, and Chopper could've sworn he saw her smile. He smiled back.
"Oh, her?" The salesman pointed to the reindeer Chopper liked, "Her name's Lila. She's a young little thing, but not too young. This year is her first year to mate."
"Oh," Nami looked at Lila, "How much?"
The salesman looked at Chopper, "I think you'd better see if those two reindeer are compatible before we talk about adoption." He walked over to Chopper and pet his head, "Hey there, young fella. How'd you like to meet Lila?" Chopper opened his mouth to speak, but remembered he looked like any other reindeer at that moment, excluding his hat, and stopped himself from saying anything. The salesman opened the gate and let Chopper in. Chopper froze outside.
"C'mon, Chopper!" Nami encouraged him.
"Show her you're perfect for her!" Robin pushed him in the pen a bit. Chopper gulped and straightened up to look like a buck. He then strutted into the pen, passing Lila as if he hadn't noticed her. Lila looked up and watched him pass. The other females didn't even notice him. Chopper sat down near Lila, looking away nervously. Lila walked over to him and rested her head under his. Chopper blushed under his fur.
Nami and Robin watched from outside the pen, "Awwww..."
Next chapter coming up! Sneek peek: Nami buys Lila from the farm, and Lila has trouble adjusting to her stay on the ship.
