A/N: My first fanfiction :DD no flames please :))
Disclaimer: I don't own Detective Conan ): wish I did, but I don't
Some things we don't talk about, rather do without..
There were a few things she would like to forget about or act as if they never happened.
Impossible.
It was Impossible and she knew that. But she wasn't reminded of her past that often. Sometimes when they went out with the kids, she would see a girl who looks a bit like her sister, and be reminded of her. Or when she sees parents playing with their children she'd be reminded of never having parents or a childhood.
Your past is something you can't forget or run away from. She had learned that lesson long ago.
And the person who had stopped her from running away is that „thing" she would rather do without.
He reminded her everyday, that they could never be together. He never said it directly (Oh no, that would've been too painful) but he showed it by constantly asking for the other thing she neither wanted to talk, nor think about.
She was sitting by the window, thinking about all these things when he suddenly hugged her from behind. "what's wrong?" he asked clearly worried. She paused for a minute before letting out a defeated sigh and answering his question "I have the cure".
She felt him stiffen behind her.
Question number one: why wasn't he jumping in joy?
Question number two: why was he still hugging her like a little girl who was frightened and was clinging onto her teddy bear for comfort?
No, no scratch that. Why was he even hugging her in first place? Why did she let him, when he denied her the comfort she needed (and deserved!) the first night they met.
Silence..only the sound of rain, thunder and their breathing could be heard, when he decided to break it "what's wrong?"
'what's wrong? Seriously? Of all the things he could have said, could have asked, he chooses "what's wrong"? Everything's wrong! You, me, she, everything is. She thought angrily, but "nothing, it's just the weather" is all that came from her mouth.
She pushed him off, only to be brought back into his arms. He wasn't going to let her run away again. He wanted her to stop running from her past, her new friends, he wanted her to stop running away from him.
"What's wrong? Tell me." he tried again.
"Nothing." she said before pushing him away gently. She ran out of the house into the rain without giving him time to react.
Of course he ran after her and didn't have any problems with catching up. He grabbed her arm, spinning her around in process.
They stared at each other in silence. Only the sound of raindrops hitting the ground, thunder, distant voices and cars reminded them that they aren't the only ones on this planet.
This time it was her turn to break the silence "There are some things about me that you don't know. Some things I don't talk about." She looked him straight in the eye, with her calm, emotionless mask on her face, hiding her true feelings.
Things she didn't talk about: her feelings about him, her feelings about him and the antidote.
5 minutes had passed and he was still trying to come up with something to say. They were both soaked and she wanted to go home, so she hugged him, brought her mouth near his ear and whispered "some things are better left unsaid". That's when he wrapped his arm around her and pressed her against him. "Yes I know. Just don't run away anymore. I won't force you to tell me something you don't want me or anyone to know. Just... Please don't run away ever again. I need you".
Her eyes shot wide open. She needed him too, but she wasn't ready to tell him. Her feelings were something she didn't talk about.
" I won't run away" she said and broke the embrace to take his hand and they walked back hand in hand. She had stopped running from her past long ago.
Now's the time Ai stops running from her future, stops running from Conan.
