I don't think I had ever felt this way with anybody. I couldn't even look at her normally because of the awkwardness.

My finger was tapping at the table impatiently as my leg shook violently. The suit I had spent two hours choosing now felt as if it was slowly shrinking gradually with time. I looked at my watch and saw that it been only fifteen minutes since I came to pick up Iris since she didn't have a car.
That was when I actually got a good look at her. She was shaking nervously and her face was blushing. She was in a worse situation than I was. Unlike her, the feelings I once had had been replaced by pain and the fact that the person I once would've sold my soul to is now dead.
Iris, on the other hand, had lived through all these years with an even bigger burden; she was a criminal's accomplice, dated me for her sister and tried to save her demon of a sister from her ultimate doom…
"Iris…"
"Hey, you know you can leave the building now since Miss Iris is now free to go back to Sister Bikini, right?"

I grabbed my jacket and cell phone as I was leaving the detention center. Iris followed closely to me as we walked down the long hall to the exit, to freedom.
Maya was at the office with Pearl. Edgeworth was there too, and that also meant Gumshoe was going to be there. After that trial two years ago that involved the revenge of Dahlia, all of us had tried our best to keep Pearl and Maya safe from all harm.

"O-Oh, sorry, Iris, are you hungry, do you want to have lunch with us? Although, that involves Gumshoe's instant ramen noodles and some tea…" I chuckled lamely.
"L-Lunch, with you? I'd love to!"
That was when I saw the beauty of Iris that Dahlia didn't have. This inner smile that was true and believable…But my heart wasn't ready for this yet, the scars of her left my heart as guarded as a concrete wall…

When we got there, everyone was in a cheerful spirit. Edgeworth was carefully reading a law book to Pearl, who was more than confused.

Maya and Gumshoe were fighting as to lunch.
"I say we go out for lunch at STEVE'S BURGER JOINT~!"
"Listen here, I'm being paid minimum, minimum, MINIMUM wage here!"

I looked beside me as Iris was looking quite uncomfortable with all these people, especially since these were the people she fought against during that trial two years ago...
