The bright lights reflect off of the spit-shined grey, metallic walls of the laboratory. The soft whirls of operating machines, computes, and the coffeemaker by the large doors echoed around the room, along with the humming from a red-coated figure that is heavily focused on his current project. DR. EGGMAN carefully held onto a limb, moving the joint back and forth. It moved easily. Twisting his lips with dissatisfaction, the Doctor grabbed hold of a small wrench with his grease-stained, gloved hand and used it to tighten the main bolt that joined the shin with the thigh. Placing it at the end of the table, he smiled upon moving the limb again. It moved fluidly, but not so much that a breeze would cause the leg to buckle.

Dr. Eggman repeats the same procedure with the other leg. His smile grows as the satisfaction of another finely-built machine – created by his genius mind – lay before him. The legs are the most important feature to perfect, as their function would be inherent to beating that blue pin-cushion once and for all!

He steps back, grinning madly and twisting his mustache with a grease-stained glov-

"Gaaah!" The Doctor exclaims, instantly pulling his hand away. It's too late, however, for his red, groomed whiskers are now smudged with dark oil. "Grrr, CUBOT! ORBOT!"

As the sound of their specially Logoed names resounds throughout the lab, the large doors slide open before the distressed doctor to reveal two small robots.

"You called, Doctor Eggman-sir?" the yellow, squared bot asks in a drawl as he and his red, orbed comrade floated closer.

"Yes, what seems to be the problem? I heard the opening narration software was processing smoothly…" Orbot inquires calmly, though his hands were clenched together, preparing for more yelling.

Which predictably happens.

"Here!" Dr. Eggman took off the filthy gloves and flicks them towards the robots – Orbot catches one with his hands, Cubot catches the other with his face. "Put them in the washing bin with my other gloves. I'm done for today." The doctor takes out another pure white pair from his the pocket of his brown pants and pulls them on. He struts towards the door, the smaller bots floating ahead of him and down the hall, to stop at a control panel beside the coffeemaker. He quickly taps coding commands into the keyboard. Two giant, three-pronged claws descend from above, grabbing the machine on the table delicately. They lift it off the table and carry it over to the other end of the lab's main room, placing it in the smallest pod, snuggled between the much larger pods that hold other robots.

Dr. Eggman nods to himself at a day's work complete and claps twice to turn off the lights. The lab dims to shadows and silhouettes, the door sliding shut after the Doctor exits. Only the dull blue, green, and yellow lights of the various machine pods stay on, recharging the metallic figures inside for their future battles with a meddlesome Hedgehog and his friends.

Another creation to wreak havoc on Sonic's crew!?

Don't worry, Folksies! Things are just getting started! Find out what happens next issue!

... Next month.

Also, I'm cool for hearing any headcanons people have for Sonic Boom and it's characters, especially of the story for Rise of Lyric!

My headcanon is that it doesn't exist.
