Shadows are known to be the silhouette of the person. They are very important in one's life. In the case of Elphaba Thropp her shadows showed much of her life. They were the one thing that were normal. In birth the silhouette of a man angry and a baby reaching her hands out to the man were seen. At Shiz one could see a girl in a wheelchair, a man holding that chair, and a girl holding bags ten times her size and weight. Then seeing two girls fighting one with her hair flying in the wind the other in a tight braid.
At the Ozdust one could see a party with a lot of dancing and laughter. You could see a girl at the top of a staircase with a very interesting hat on her head. Later you would see two girls dancing in a very weird fashion but others dancing along.
Later one could see a girl running beside a boy holding some sort of box or cage and at one point their faces becoming close before the boy runs off.
In the Emerald City, you could see two girls looking around with excitement, like tourists. They seemed to be waiting for something. In the Emerald Palace you could see the sparks fly from an abnormal machine. Then a figure hold a strange book. You could see a figure have wings sprout, almost like magic, from its body. You then saw a girl run and fly on a broomstick high above the city.
Later in the same palace you could see a man and girl dance and then see figures with wings fly around. You could see a man send his comrades off in search of something it seemed. You could see a girl come in the room. Then the man and other girl run off.
In a forest you could see two figures combine together. You could see the girl run off in a flourish.
In a cornfield you could see two girls fight off the other with their respective items. You could see a group of people take hold of the two girls. A man come in and one of the girls run off and the man being strung up like a scarecrow.
In a castle far away you could see a girl reading a book and chanting in a strange language. And then her breaking down and crying over something, almost like a lost love.
Later in the same castle you could see a figure yelling at a girl telling her something about shoes. You could see a woman come in and tell the figure something about some hunters of some sort. The women had a conversation and in the end they hugged.
You could see the last of the Wicked Witch of the West through a screen that protected the woman behind it. Her melting and her final screams were heard.
Later a figure that walked very lankly, as though he couldn't very well control his movements went to one part of the floor of where the Witch was melted. He knocked and out came the same Elphaba that had been melted except very wet. They had a quick conversation then left through the door, never to return to Oz again.
