When all you see ahead is pain
And your mind tells you frightening things
When you're sure that all the future holds is
A slow descent to utter ruin…
Listen, there's a still, small voice
That says…
This is my Chalice
It is not designed to ruin you
Neither will it harm you
Or destroy your brightest dreams
It is not poison
Do not trust that lie,
That terror and fear of tomorrow,
Which tells you to fight and fear its effects…
It is the best medicine for your soul
It will purify you,
And prepare you for eternal Glory…
Do not fear its pain,
Its reminder of yesteryear's terrors
Fear not its discomfort,
Its agony of weakness and helplessness
It is but a phase
That will transform your soul
From dust to imperishable gold…
Fear not the Chalice
Learn to savor its sweetness
For by it I have redeemed the world…
Shall we drink it together, you and I
That we may partake of the same Nature
No longer mortal, but immortal
No longer fearful and brazen,
But trusting and full of compassion
Shall we sup together
And have a heart to heart talk,
Just you and I
I have so longed to dine and talk with you…
Do not get distracted by this world's screams
Of terror, of glee, of merry stupor
They shall prove to be mere illusions
Dead ends and abysses of despair
Come, fear not
Let us sup together
For this Chalice, bitter though it is
Is filled with passionate Love
It shall not hurt you
It shall not ruin you
It shall not take away anything from you
It is the best medicine for your soul
That will take you to Glory…
