She felt happy.

She really did.

But at the same time Rory Gilmore couldn't help feeling like there was something missing.

With Logan at her side and this party full of prominent people in society, however, she merely brushed it off as after grad anxiety.

She now had to start her life.

She was out of school completely – done.

She mingled and made small talk that she had now become an expert at since being inducted in to Hartford Society.

As the grand daughter of Emily and Richard Gilmore and the girlfriend of Logan Huntzberger, it was expected that she attend these parties and even have them in her honor.

She didn't mind this world but she wished Logan wasn't quite so involved with it for she already had to fill the duties of being a Gilmore.

Since she'd been there for a while already she figured it would be alright for Logan and herself to excuse themselves.

She had been speaking with the Whitakers when he caught her eye.

Tristan DuGrey appeared in her line of sight, walking from the corner by the bar. His blue eyes locked with hers and a shocked and slightly guilty look washed over his face.

She hadn't even seen him since high school. In truth she hadn't even thought about him much after high school. Right after he left she wondered how military school was going for him but he soon left her thoughts. Except on occasion those famous last words would ring in her head.

I'd kiss you but your boyfriend's watching. Take care of yourself…Mary.

She felt as if she'd finally seen a glimpse of him. Or at least the guy he could be if he would just grow up a little.

It appears now he had.

He looked good.

Rory wanted to take him all in but she couldn't seem to stray from his eyes.

She began to open her mouth from the smile it had been in and started toward him.

Before she could greet him she felt a hand on her wrist and several sharp clanks against a glass rang through her ears.

She glanced over at Logan, the smile falling from her face and realized that her boyfriend, the man she loved, was by her side and ready to say something.

She panicked looking back and forth between Tristan and Logan.

On one of her trips between the two he grinned at her. It was one of the cocky ones he had given to her many times in high school. It still had a hint of a smirk. He winked at her and began moving.

She realized he had started walking again, and this time she realized his path.

He had been trying to leave. He was leaving.

A million thoughts were going through her head. How had he been? Why was he leaving? Why had he been here at all?

She wanted to stop him and interrogate him but she couldn't.

Everything was becoming quiet, all eyes were turning toward her and Logan, and Logan was ready to give a speech to her at her graduation party.

The blue eyed Adonis stopped and looked at her when he reached the door.

Again, she felt frustrated and rejected. She hadn't even spoken to him.

With that last look he walked out and shut the door.

She hadn't even said hello.

Much less goodbye.
