Steve sat alone in his room of the Avengers headquarters, head buried in his hands, weeping. His mind back on the fields of Wakanda. The sound of Thanos' fingers clicking still boomed through his head. The pounding sound of his defeat. His failure. "Earth's mightiest heroes!" he thought sarcastically. "Yeah sure..." He scoffed as he sniffled. His handsome blue eyes were all bloodshot and puffy, his nose was red and a river of snot flowed from it.

As Natasha watched him from the door (which was left ajar), her heart ached to see this strong-yet attractive- man so broken. Silently she pushed open the door and crept in.

"Steve," she said quietly, she gently placed her hand on his left, broad muscular, shoulder.

He slowly looked up and his sky blue eyes met her emerald colored ones as he gazed at the love of his life. "He's gone..." he whispered, chocking on his words. "If I had tried harder... If I-" His voice broke as he succumbed into a fit of poring tears. Natasha wrapped her arms around his head and pulled him into a hug. She knew who he was talking about. Bucky. Steve had lost his friend before he crashed into the Artic. Only to discover he was still alive, reunite with him and then, lose him again.

"It wasn't your fault," she soothed. " We all tried our best, but in the end there was nothing we could've done." She leaned in and kissed his left temple while caressing his dirty blond hair. She released him as he stood up, and took Natasha's hand in his own. His gaze drifted down to hers.

"Thanks Nat," he said as he dried his remaining tears. " I really needed that."

"anything for you Captain," she smirked- nuzzling his nose- as she through her arms around his neck, kissing him.

Stars exploded in the back is his mind as he wrapped his arms around her waist kissing her back. The kiss was fierce, but gentle simultaneously.

"Uhhh..." A voice echoed through the room, concomitantly ripped away from each other.

Both stared in shock- and embarrassment- at door. Scott looked like a kid who saw their parent's kiss.

"Is this at a bad time? Cos I can-"

"Perfect timing," Natasha muttered underneath her breath.

"You two looked like two seals fighting over a grape!" He mused.

"Shut up!" Natasha seethed as Scott wiped a way a tear.

"What do you want?" Steve asked stoically, despite the betraying blush on his cheeks.

"Bruce wanted me to inform you that we've located Shuri."

"Where's she now?" Steve asked as they made a course for the communication room.

"We believe the blast teleported her to a remote island in Oceania. Her face matched our scanners." Bruce said as he typed some buttons onto his screen.

"Me, Nat and Scott will check out this lead. The rest of you, try to relocate the others."

And just like that the Cap was back

to his old self...
