A/N: I do not own any of Supergirl. That belongs to the CW Network, and DC Comics.
"Good morning, babe."
"It's feels good to be able to say that again."
Kara Danvers woke up in her queen bed next to a man she hadn't been romantically invested in in what felt like forever, where in fact, it had only been 9 months. She was absolutely devastated when Mon-El had returned to Earth only to be married. To another girl. It hadn't been until about a week ago that things hadn't been even remotely awkward between the two of them. There were always unresolved feelings; he had left so quickly. It had taken Kara so long to get over him, and now he was back, for her, and she never wanted to say goodbye again. Not to him, at least.
Mon-El hadn't felt this happy since before his parents invaded Earth. He had Imra, but he never felt as remotely in love with her as he was, and is, with Kara. He thought that he had gotten over her; it had been 7 years, but the moment he had seen the sparkle in her eyes, he knew that there was no chance of him every being, truly, over her. And he never wanted to try again.
Barry and Iris had make it work. Oliver and Felicity had made it work. Sara and Ava made it work. For like a week, though. But whatever. Who's to say that they couldn't make it work as well? It's true that there are times of hardships, and no doubt that there would be in the future. But as long as they didn't, under any circumstances, let their relationship get above their mission at hand. Saving people came first, and then their love life. That's always been the plan.
Kara had known from the moment she had seen Mon-El in that Kryptonian space ship that he was someone she would get along with well. While that wasn't true when they first met, got to know each other, or when he lied about being the Prince of Daxam, as time went on, and she began influencing him, and convincing him to be a better person and save the world, they began to get closer, and work together more to become an unstoppable duo.
When he was forced to leave, her heart was broken, to sugarcoat it, and she thought she would never see him again. Things were just over between the two of them. What she didn't know, was that it was by far worse to see him married to another woman, then to just not see him at all.
Right away, Mon-El felt something between him and Kara, even when she didn't think so. She caught on to him right away, when she suspected that he liked her. Like liked her. When he was forced to leave her, his heart was broken, to sugarcoat it. That's when he met Imra, and he thought that they were to be married, to show a united front for the rest of the Legion. It wasn't long into their marriage that Mon-El realized he was lying to her, without him even knowing it himself. Imra tried to ease his frustrations, but nothing worked; nothing cleared his mind away from Kara, and his undying love for her.
One of his only regrets in life, that he remembers, is that he didn't make a move on Kara sooner. That way they could've spent so much more time together before he "left". The ideal time would've been right after he kissed her for the first time. She always thought that he did it because he had just gotten hurt, and he was under medication, but he was completely in his right mind when he did it. He just wished he had let her know that sooner.
But now, they have the rest of time to embrace each other's love for one another. Waking up next to each other was just the beginning. Something Kara didn't know yet, was that at their romantic dinner, planned by Mon-El, he was ready to take their relationship to the next level. And all she needed to say was one word. "Yes".
THE END.
