Dragon Hunt
Chapter 1:
Prologue
Mikan couldn't believe it. What had she done to warrant such bad luck that day? She had just been taking a bath in a sea cave, at freaking night, when no one was supposed to be there to see her! Yet there the boy had been, taking a casual stroll along the beach. If she didn't know better, she'd swear that the gods were having a sadistic moment. And as if that hadn't been enough, she just had to crash into him as soon as she got on the beach. Damn it all to hell! Her brothers were going to be so pissed. Mentally wincing, she finally opened her eyes, only to see a beautiful pair of crimson eyes. Dazed, she could only drown in their depths. Unfortunately, the gods seemed to enjoy screwing up her life.
"O-oh!" she squeaked. A fire-red blush spread across her face as she scrambled to get off of the boy's lap. Quickly, she bowed. "Forgive me!" she cried, before running off. Natsume could only stare in disbelief as the figure grew smaller in the distance.
"What the hell was that?" he muttered to himself crossly. Brushing off the sand from his clothes in annoyance, he spotted something that hadn't been there before. A gold earring glinted from the ground, winking up at him in the moonlight. Bending down to scoop it up, he inspected it in his hand. A dragon. 'Interesting.' His mind mused. 'Why would a girl be carrying around an object with a forbidden image?' he wondered as he walked away from the beach. 'I will find her.' He decided. 'Then I will make her regret ever crashing into me!'
