The Most Beautiful Nightmare

~h~

I hear birds singing.

I smell the lake.

I slowly open my eyes.

~e~

It's all just like I had imagined

dreamed since I first saw him.

~a~

We, I and him, lie on the ground middle of the flowers.

I don't know how I'm in this beautiful place,

heaven.

I don't care.

I'm just happy I'm there

with him.

~r~

He's holding me in his arms.

I'm happier than I've ever been.

I snuggle closer. I don't want to let him go.

He whispers "I love you, Rue"

in my ear.

~t~

I pull back just so I can see his eyes

His beautiful golden eyes are looking straight into my red ones.

~b~

"I have always loved you" I respond

smiling at him

knowing he can't really mean the things he's saying.

~r~

It's just what I've taught him to say.

the way to act.

~e~

Then he smiles with his white teeth

and I know this is only just a dream.

~a~

..just like millions of times before.
