"Alright everyone that's enough for today."
I sighed and put down my violin. The reason I had joined this tour was because my father had done the same thing ten years ago. I hoped to find some clue to where he was by joining this group. Footsteps approached me and I raised my head.
"Well done, Tsukiyomi. You truly have a gift, just as your father did." The conductor smiled at me. I did my best to smile back, this man had done a lot for my father.
"We're having another concert soon. A couple of weeks, in London." I groaned internally, it meant I would have to start learning yet another language. "Just keep practicing and you'll be fine." The conductor said, seeing and misunderstanding the expression on my face. I nodded.
Two and a Half Weeks later…..
I listened backstage to all the performances. It was nearly my turn. A passing girl winked at me before going out in front of the crowd. She seated herself at a piano, and started to play. She was really good, and then she opened her mouth. Her voice was soft and pretty, and brought me back to a time back in Japan, a year ago.
~Flashback~
I walked up the steps and looked around. I hadn't been here in a while. I opened my violin case and took the instrument out.
I played because it made me happy, I played because I could be myself when I did it, I played because somehow it seemed to bring me closer to my gone father.
I heard footsteps, but I was too into my playing to care if someone listened. But then she started singing.
I looked down at her. Amu. I smiled at her. "I thought I heard someone, and it's you."
"Sounds like you're having a fun time singing-nya!" Yoru chuckled at my side.
She scowled at me. "I'm n-not really having that much fun." She always stuttered when she was trying to cover her embarrassment. Her charas giggled, knowing just as I did that Amu loved to do these sorts of things.
"Anyway," she continued. "I haven't seen you lately. Have you been hanging around somewhere else?"
Ignoring the question, I picked up my violin again. "You've got perfect timing."
"Huh?" she'd clearly not been expecting that.
"I was just getting bored." I smirked at her and tucked the violin beneath my chin. "I'd be glad to have your crappy singing accompany me."
"CRAPPY?" she said in disbelief. I only smiled again and started playing. After a moment, she joined in with her singing.
"Lalala uta wo utaou. [Somebody sing a song.
Kao age kokoro no mama. utaou. Raise your head and open your heart. Sing.
Akirame ja ikenai. You can't give up.
Dekinai koto nande nai yuuki no uta. There's nothing you can't do. Song of courage.
Dare ni mo makenai. I won't lose to anyone.
Yume ga aru. Because I have a dream.
Arukidasou mune hatte. It's like my heart's set off on a journey.
Watashi dake no michi ga aru. There's a path that exists only for me.
Shinjiru…" I believe…]
Her voice was beautiful. Utau's voice was pretty, but not like this. Amu's voice had its own special softness. It wove through the notes, keeping rhythm and pace with my violin. She smiled at me, and my heart jumped.
Flashback Ended….
My turn was next. I picked up my violin and strode across the stage. I tucked it in its usual place, beneath my chin. I closed my eyes and started playing.
