Milly Storm shielded her eyes from the sun's harsh rays as she stepped up to the train, holding her trusty skateboard at her side. Before boarding she turned, beaming widely and waving to her parents who were standing at the edge of the station. Her father was a tall burly man who had a large grin that could hardly be seen by his thick blue beard and hair. His tail wagged behind him. He dwarfed his wife who held a handkerchief to her nose as tears rolled down her face, her smile never fading. She reached and scratched her folded faunus ears, a nervous tick of hers, her hair was a light aqua. Milly took one more look at them before boarding the train, tucking a stray of her short, blue hair under her matching beanie, her tail wagging uncontrollably. She plopped down in the first window seat she could find, placing her skateboard beside her and swung her legs on the top of seat in front of her, crossing them. She pulled out her scroll and a pair of headphones she managed to snatch from her sisters room before leaving, shame she couldn't see her off, and plugged them in. Switching to her favorite playlist, she pulled her beanie over eyes and laid back, letting herself relax as the train started to move.

She was a short girl, shortest in her family. She had blue eyes and hair and a matching tail that always seemed to be in motion, whether she wanted it to be or not. Being a dog faunus had granted her quite a few nicknames growing up to, all of which she took in stride, she was her fathers daughter after all. She wore a short, off shoulder shirt that exposed the navel with an open vest zippered at the bottom matched by cargo pants with multiple chains and belts, bellow knee length socks with stripes at the top and sneakers. She also grabbed her scarf and fingerless arm warmers that only reached past her wrist, both were striped. Her favorite beanie never left her head and neither did her skateboard, Rebel Star.

Haven Academy, she couldn't believe it. Part of the reason for her plugging in her scroll was to contain her excitement while her mind raced with a million different thoughts. She had wanted this since before she could walk. Due in part to her father returning from long missions and enlightening her and her older sister with stories of giant monsters and heroic to the death battles. Far to violent stories as her mother would say, but Milly loved them and hearing about all the blood and gore seemed to sweeten it. She could remember sitting by the door when she was little waiting for her fathers return from particularly long excursions to bombard him with questions. Often her mother would say that was the only reason she ever looked forward to him coming home. Which wasn't completely true, most of the time.

She hummed along to a song that came on her scroll, her foot tapping along to the beat. Opening one eye she glanced around at the other occupants of the train. There weren't many, mostly just old men and women with whiny kids, no cute girls either. Milly stuck out her tongue in mild annoyance and shut her eye, sinking further into the seat.

It felt like a second later when a soft voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Um, excuse me"

Milly opened her eyes, pulling out her headphones. There was a small girl standing in her aisle, she was tiny and had wide brown eyes and matching hair in pigtails. She wore a brown off-shoulder kimono style dress held together with a belt, typical Mistral style, and short boots. On her head sat small faunus ears, of what animal Milly couldn't tell, she'd guess either rat or squirrel. She held a suitcase in both hands and looked to be about eight years old. She stared at the seat next to Milly expectantly.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked, bobbing her head to the side, her pigtails bouncing

Milly was about to turn her away when she took another look around the train. When had it gotten so crowded and more importantly, when did she fallen asleep?. She looked to the girl again and pulled up her beanie, gesturing to the seat beside her.

"Thanks" the girl said, cheerfully. She took the seat, placing the suitcase awkwardly between them. She was so short that her legs dangled off the side of the seat, she didn't seem to mind though as she swung them happily. She stuck out her hand towards Milly, her eyes glittering "My names Anya" she said

'At least she's friendly' Milly thought as she took her hand and simply stating her name, to comfortable to leave her current spot. "So, where are you going?" she asked

"Haven" Anya said plainly

"Oh, are you meeting an older sibling?" Milly asked naively

"No, I'm a first year student" Anya shrugged

"What!?" Milly shot forward in her surprise, hitting her head off the seat in front of her "Owww" she groaned rubbing her temple, she looked to Anya in shock "Are you saying your seventeen!?" she cried

"Yep, just turned seventeen this year" Anya replied nonchalantly, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Milly just stared, a look of confusion etched across her face. There was no way this girl was seventeen it wasn't possible, she was so tiny how could they be the same age!? The dog faunus realized she was staring open-mouthed and cleared her throat, straightening up, still rubbing the bruise that had started to form on her forehead. She unplugged her headphones and pocketed them and her scroll, adjusting her beanie.

Anya smiled. She was used to people guessing her age wrong and it was fun to see there reactions plus Milly seemed nice. A hint of blue caught her eye and she looked down, her face lighting up "Oh wow I love your tail, it's so cute" she gushed

Milly grabbed said tail, which was curled on her lap and held it up "This?" she asked in confusion. She had never thought her tail was anything special, it wasn't long or fluffy or anything, it was just normal.

Anya nodded vigorously, her pigtails following every movement. "I wish I had a tail, their so pretty" she said,

Milly smirked, she was never was one to pass up a compliment. "Well it's kind of annoying, I always sit on it" she placed her tail back on her lap and Anya giggled.

Milly pointed to the small faunus ears on Anya's head. "So what are you supposed to be, some kind of rat?" she asked

Anya's face fell into a pout, and she gestured to her head. "I'm not a rat, I'm a chipmunk" she whined.

Milly stared at the offended girl for one second before bursting out laughing "I'm sorry" she managed "I never would've guessed" she held her sides, and Anya face fell further.

Milly stopped, wiping the tears from her eyes with the back of her hand. "Seriously though, it's hard to tell sometimes."

Anya's face seemed to brighten and she flashed another smile "Ok then, no worries" she beamed

'How agreeable in this girl?' Milly thought

The chipmunk looked past her to stare out the window "Looks like we still got a long way to go" she observed

Milly nodded "Better get used to the journey then" she stated

They both fell into silence, staring out the window. The train taking them to their future
