Episode I.

There was a human trampling through the woods; lumbering about like a newborn fawn on unsteady legs. Branches snapped and thorny bushes snagged against skin and clothes as boots smacked into the earth. The human's stupidity was scaring away the game. Still, and there was only a whisper of wind as a lithe form moved gracefully from tree to tree, the forest native was curious as to what the human was doing there. She'd been following the creature for a while now. She wondered if it knew where it was going.

The human suddenly paused in its brazen advance and glared about, hands fisted at its sides. There was a pout on its face, and it was strange... She didn't know the words for what it was doing to her insides. "I know you're there," it called. "Why don't you quit following me and mind your own business?"

In response, Chloe smoothly hooked her legs around the branch of a tree and swung upside down. Her head was side by side with the human's now, and she could see the delicate roundness of the human's ears a breath away. "What are you doing?" she said, and the human jumped. Its head swiveled to look at her face just inches from its own, eyes widening in surprise before narrowing.

"Walking." The human barely took another second to look at her before turning around and stomping away. "Quit following me!" it called over its shoulder.

Chloe blinked, head still watching the upside down form of the human walk away before swinging up and dashing over to the next tree. "Aren't you curious about why I'm following you?" she called back from the branches above. The human looked up, searching for her, and Chloe giggled. Her form was too fast to pinpoint, naturally attuned to each twisted branch of the forest, and made the barest of sounds each time she got where she was going.

The human rolled its eyes and began tearing its path away again, "No, I'm not!" Its eyes just happened to glance up and saw Chloe sitting in a tree a few feet away, and she screamed. Chloe laughed again, finding this game amusing. The human just turned around and started stalking away again. She jumped down from the tree and leisurely started following it. The human twisted its head around to see her there and started walking faster. When Chloe was able to keep up, the human picked up its pace. It was no trouble for Chloe to match the humans pace, and eventually both were flat out running. Chloe's musical laughter was ringing about the forest while the human tried to run harder and harder. The next thing the both knew, the human had tripped over a stray root and Chloe tripped over the human's leg, and both fell a few feet away with a thud. There was a pause, then both started laughing. Neither bothered to get up, lingering on the still form of the earth where they'd fallen separately. The human was out of breath, cheeks red and a warm smile on its face. It rolled over on its back, taking a moment to grin at her as it did so. Chloe grinned widely in return. This was the most fun she'd had in a while.

The human laid splayed about on the earth, trying to catch its breath. There was a rip in the sleeve of its tunic where it tore against some brush, and runes showed through. It was quiet except for the human's occasional giggle and heavy breathing, and even that soon became silent. "What's your name?" the human asked. There wasn't an answer, so the human looked up... but the elf was gone.
