L Lawliet, Eraldo Coil, Deneuve.
Three men who were known as the best detectives in the world.
He had known one.
No... actually, by knowing one, he had known them all.
For L Lawliet was Eraldo Coil, and Deneuve. Light had found himself highly doubting that a man such as L could be smart at all, let alone pure genius. He was in his twenties! Just... what, about seven years older than himself!?
But, such was true. The raven haired, panda-looking man was genius, had accounted for that time and time again, and, Light admitted, his only true match.
For he was Kira. He was red, he was blood, he was justice.
Lawliet was L. He was blue, he was patriotism, and he was justice.
Then there was Near. That little, white haired kid. Near was N. He was white, he was purity, and he was the one, Light knew, that would erase him from existence, should L possibly fail.
Light knew he would.
Red, White, and Blue. The colors of Britain, L's favorite country. Or, maybe, if one prefers, the U.S.A, the country of freedom and happiness.
But Kira, N, and L did not represent that country of supposed freedom at all.
In fact, these colors of red, white, and blue, more represented no escape, of being caged. Though, on the outside, they appeared free to do as they wished, they were nothing but puppets.
Kira held L's life in his hand, N held Kira's, and L, at some point, had held N's. All caged, all squirming to be let free.
And they all had.
I don't know how I thought of this. I was watching Matt's death over and over again, and this pops into my head;
"Hey, Kira is red, and L is blue, and Near is white, right? So... then... Red, White, and Blue are the colors of America! The country of freedom! Oh, the irony!"
Matt's death = This? Iunno.
I loved Matt. He was the badassiest character. I know that's not a word.
Rated T because I tend to curse here just for the hell of it.
