Tonks walked down the street with her bubblegum hair bouncing along behind her. An old lady leered at her, shoving Bertie Bott's Beans in her face. Tonks shook her head. As she looked around the street, all she could see was people and price tags. Serious Ministry men marched up the street, and wives pulled their children into shops. She saw a bottle of truth potion being for sale for 10 galleons. Across the street from her a child was unhappy, and frowning. Not a single smile on the street, except for hers. She was sad, but who cared?
Tonks walked on. Diagon Alley was surprisingly busy at eleven a.m. A woman stormed past her, in wobbling black high heels, and shades so you couldn't see her eyes. Tonks frowned. Why on earth would she need to wear that at this time of the morning?
Tonks' mind wondered to Remus. In her opinion, no money could buy Remus. She remembered two days ago, when she last saw him. That was the day after she ran into Harry at Hogwarts. She looked around, to her left and right, because she was on duty.
Tonks didn't know why everyone was so worried about money. To her, it was worthless. What wasn't worthless, was the 'old' werewolf she had crush on.
For most people, they wanted money when the married. But not Nymphadora Tonks. All she wanted was Remus. Everyone else wanted people with money to roll in, to be able to go 'Cha Ching' at the counter. But all she wanted was true love.
She thought back to her childhood. Her family had always chosen love over money. She wished she could go back in time, and hopefully make sure her mum made her older, and so she could relive her childhood. She was getting tired of her life now, never being able to get what she needed.
She remembered something that her mother had said; Money doesn't buy you happiness. Her maternal grandparents were living proof, hating each other but marrying for the money. She was perfect without money, so why did people need it?
She stopped walking. She was nearly at knockturn Alley, the place she was supposed to be patrolling. She looked around, then took a deep breath and went in. To her amazement, and excitement, a certain werewolf was there. Her mind went crazy like other people's would have if they had won the lottery. She pushed anxiously through the crowd.
Remus felt himself being squashed into a hug. He saw his love, Nymphadora Tonks. He fiddled with the diamond ring in his pocket. He decided not to give it to her, take it back and get his money back. He was already happier than ever.
Tonks felt like she was being taken to the Moon. Seeing Remus, gazing into his hazel eyes, this is what she wanted. Not some stinkin' death eater to capture. Just him. This was the life she wanted.
Remus felt people shuffling around him, going on with their life. But being in the middle of knockturn alley wouldn't defeat him.
"Nymhadora Tonks, will you marry me?"
"YES!" Tonks squealed. Her heart was beating so hard. She didn't care that Remus was broke and she had about two hundred galleons left, which can't even buy a house. Love was the only thing she cared about right now. She didn't give a damn about how much money they had.
She knew her aunt Narcissa cared about money. Her husband had money cha changing out of everywhere. She was glad her mother wasn't a stuck up, money chasing, oh so pureblood, imbreeding Black freak!
Remus was overjoyed that Tonks had said yes. Over the moon even. Everything was in the right place, except where they were right now. He felt guilty for ignoring her, saying he was too old for her. It was nonsense. He felt like he'd won one hundred lotteries and bought a luxury million dollar house. He'd do anything for Tonks. Heck, he'd even die for her. That was how much he loved her.
