Disclaimer: Right. Why is it that I don't own Doctor Who? Or even own the rights to the idea? To any idea? It doesn't have to be huge, just some little insignificant idea, but I want to own the rights to something Doctor Who related!

The Doctor smiled softly as the memory faded. Oh, how he would miss Donna. He would miss her sarcastic remarks, and her ability to miss the big picture, but yet never miss the details. He would miss his best friend, and once the most important woman in the Universe.

And now, here he stood, outside her house for the last time. He could never come back. For if he did, he would risk Donna's life. And he wouldn't do that. Not again. Because if she saw him, if she remembered, she would burn up. The memories of him, and the Universe would destroy her mind, and he couldn't risk that. He couldn't risk being seen. She had been the most important woman in the Universe, and now she would never know it.

But still he lingered. Standing outside in the rain, salty tears now undistinguishable from the rain that ran down his face. He made no effort to conceal his emotions, to hide them behind a jovial mask. Because, just for the moment, he had no mask. There comes a time where everything must end. But the Doctor had never thought it would be so soon.

Wilf watched the Doctor as he told Sylvia about Donna. Told her about how brilliant she was, how brave and noble Donna had been. How she had become the most important woman in the universe, and about how she could never remember. Wilf saw the pain and guilt within the Doctor eyes, the sadness that was evident in his stance. And as he watched the Doctor standing in the rain, he understood what Donna was to him. She was a friend, a friend that he could trust. There comes a time where everything must end. But Wilf had never thought it would be taken away so soon.
