Disclaimer: I'm smiling as I say this. I don't own Hannah Montana or Smiling Down
After Miley's mom died she went into a deep depression. She was only 8-years-old and she really wished she was Jackson. Jackson after all had their mother for 2 years longer then she did. One day Jackson knocked on the door.
"Come in," Miley said
"Hey Miles," Jackson said, "Listen before mom died she gave me something to give to you when you need it. I think you need it now"
He handed her a video.
"Wanna watch it with me," she asked.
He nodded and kissed her cheek.
She put on the video. Immediately her mother came on and Miley started crying again. Jackson stroked her hair.
"It's okay Miles," he said, "listen"
Her mother's sweet voice came though.
You make it so hard on yourself
But there's nobody else
That could ever understand
The feelings that you felt
I could hear you think about
All the time I was around
If you could only see me now
I'm right here looking down
Miley never heard that song before.
"Mom wrote it," Jackson explained
So next time that you feel like crying
Next time you don't feel like trying
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
In the morning you don't feel like rising
Next time you feel like compromising
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
"She knew it would be harder for you, being younger to lose her."
I know you won't forget
All the time we got to spend
Just because it's been a while
Doesn't mean that its the end
So right here and now
I'll swear you a vow
That I will always be with you
Whenever you feel down
Nothing ever will come between us
Now I'm holding on to the hand of the Son
So next time that you feel like crying
Next time you don't feel like trying
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
In the morning you don't feel like rising
Next time you feel like compromising
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
I'll be right there looking down
Even when the shine don't shine
I'll be right there looking down
All along the winter night
I'll be right there looking down
With a smile on me face
I'll be right there with my arms open wide
Right here on the Son's side
So next time that you feel like crying
Next time you don't feel like trying
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
In the morning you don't feel like rising
Next time you feel like compromising
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
"Miley," Jackson said, "I would give anything and everything to give you the two years with mom that I had that you didn't. I know I can't. I would give anything and everything to see you smile again though"
Through her tears Miley gave one sad smile.
"The hardest part for me," she said, "was when they buried her. I'll never see her again"
"Yes you will," Jackson reminded her, "this isn't the end. One day dad will get to mom again then I'll probably get to her again and then you'll get to her again"
"Maybe I'll get there first," Miley sniffled.
"You BETTER NOT," Jackson said, "because if I lose you I'll take myself out"
"Take yourself it?"
"I don't know what it means," Jackson admitted, "I heard it in a movie."
"Oh"
"Come on," he said, "dad made French Fries for dinner"
That was a special treat.
"It's a good thing mamaw isn't here," Miley laughed, "or she'd chat him up one side and down the other about it"
So next time that you feel like crying
Next time you don't feel like trying
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
In the morning you don't feel like rising
Next time you feel like compromising
Just remember I'll be right there
Smiling down on you
"Bye mom," Miley whispered, "I love you"
Then she and Jackson went down for dinner.
