A/N: This is my head canon- I had today off and it's been playing over again and over again in my mind. I apologize in advance for causing any tears that might be produced when reading this story- just know its okay- I cried too.
"How shall we tell them?" The girl spoke clearly, "We do not wish to spook them." The boy next to her sighed.
"Honestly, after everything they've been through, I doubt much could shock them at this point." He stopped biting his tongue, "The thing I'm worried about it the fact that Arty was never religious," the female next to him gently placed a hand on his shoulder, signaling for him to go on. He swallowed dryly before speaking, "I know she believed more than I ever did," he corrected himself, "Ever could. It's just," the man stopped to sniffle before rubbing his eyes, "I don't know if I'm ready to accept this... I don't want to give up trying to get back to her." The Atlantean beside him remained silent, allowing him to continue. "I'm not ready..." He broke off pulling his companion in for a reassuring hug. "But I want," he shook his head, "No, I need her to be happy. He makes her smile again, he dries her tears, and he cares for her do much that he won't even act on his feelings out of respect for her," the man's brow furrowed, "For us." The girl beside him laughed hollowly, shaking her head.
"Yes, he was never one for immediate confrontation." The ginger snorted, joining in-
"Yeah- that's for sure." He stopped, suddenly sober. "But she found the ring. She might not want anything to do with him now."
"But then again," the female tugged at his arm, she seemed to have a habit of doing that, "She might." Each of them looked at the other's expressions- despite the dark, they could tell their eyes were red and wet; crying silently, they grabbed each other's hand so hard that the both of them were sure they'd fall off.
The girl whispered, "You ready?"
The boy nodded, "As ready as I could be."
"Let us give our blessings then."
"Wally," Artemis's voice was hoarse as her body marveled at the sight in front of her. He smiled, oh God, he smiled one of his wonderful smiles. "Just," he spoke, "Just be happy." The faint spirit turned to his friend before stepping away to reveal the freckled-face girl behind him. She looked at the mocha boy beside the archer in front of her. Her eyes were glossy as she tried to touch his shoulder, only to see her hand phase through it. "Kaldur, I never regretted my decision- I do not regret my choice to join your team." Her voice became softer, "So you do not get to start to regret your choices as leader. You deserve nothing but to be happy," she smiled at the archer opposite her, "Both of you deserve to be happy."
Artemis no longer bothered to hold back the tears, "I miss you."
The speedster swallowed hard, "I miss you too babe." He looked at his leader one last time. "Take care of her. Take care of them all."
The gilled man nodded, "Will do."
Tula tugged at the ginger's arm, "It is time- ready?"
Wallace West smiled, his emerald eyes beamed. "Now I am." Taking the female spirit's hand, he faced the bright light beyond them. "I guess today's the day."
