Welcome to the story

I groaned as I stood up, as i stood up i noticed i was in a pure white room that's a bit odd I thought.

"Given your room is blue i would think so." a voice somewhere behind me spoke as i jumped around to see a rather old man.

"And who would you be, you seem to rather know me already?" I asked slightly backing away from him, then I realized something the room has no walls, well.

"An old man with too many regrets, and a chance to fix one of them." he replied.

"Well that tells me a lot." I said sarcastically.

"Regardless, I am sending you to a place where your help is needed." He replied.

"Fine, where is it you sending me?" I asked as I crossed my arms.

"I think you'll like this one I'm sending you to the mass effect universe."

"Fine, I don't see a way out of this, I'll need a few things if I'm going to do this."

"Thanks for accepting the job this easy enough, the last time I tried this I talked with him for months in this limbo, what do you need?"

"First I'm going to need top of the line weapons and armor, along with training to use them effectively, second I'm going to need a solid background, no way in hell am I walking onboard a ship with a specter and an investigator without one." I said laying out my conditions.

"Any preference on the background?" He asked.

"I'll need something that can get me on the Normandy crew without arousing suspicion, could you make it so I'm a body guard that Tali contacts?" I suggested.

"I'll make it happen, now I suggest you brace yourself, I've been told the transition is not pleasant. He said as my vision started to black out.

Line Break

First thing I noticed upon waking up was the futuristic surroundings, next thing I noticed was a wave of nausea.

Shit he wasn't joking about it being unpleasant, I thought as I dragged myself to where my instincts told me was the bathroom.

As I got over the nausea, I stood up and looked at myself in the mirror. Well he kept the important bits, brown hair, hazel eyes, even the scars are the same.

As I finished admiring myself in the mirror I noticed a parcel on the bed I woke up on. As I walked over I noticed a note on the package.

Weapons and armor, custom made for you. May you use them well - Q

As I pulled out the gear I noticed the armor was Cerberus Ajax armor but painted matte black with silver, gold and red highlights, and the weapons were a n7 Valkyrie and eagle with the same color scheme. Along with the rest of the gear was an Omni tool, which I put on quickly and activated and notice I had 2 messages, the first was from an address which was just a jumble of letters and numbers.

I heard you were a bodyguard for hire, I require protection come to these coordinates in 3 hours, you will be paid after.

I'm assuming that that will be Tali, it's time stamped as 5 minutes ago, I have time, the next email just pain didn't have an address.

Before you begin, your background, you were born on Earth but left when you were 18 and started a bodyguard business and 10 years later here you are. Also you have a rather large amount of money to use for anything you need.

All right time to learn about shepherd, I thought as I opened my Omni tool, instincts which didn't exist began to guide me through using the thing.

After about 2 hours I was walking out of my apartment in my armor and with my weapons and went over what I had learned about shepherd. She's from Mindoir, but she did all 3 things for her service record, so she could be either paragon or renegade still. That's just great.

As I arrived at the spot Tali had told me to meet at I noticed that 1 it was the alley and 2 no one was there yet, and so I settled in to wait for a while.

After a while I spotted Tali coming towards the alley where the meeting was taking place, once she was within a few feet of me she asked. "You Adrien?"

"That I am, I'm assuming you're the one who hired me?" I replied plainly.

"You have a problem with me being a Quarian?" She asked defensively.

"Nope, none at all." I replied. "So why did you need to hire a guard?" I asked, even though I already knew.

"I'm making a deal with the Shadow Broker, that's all you need to know." She answered.

"How old are you kid?" I asked.

"I'd be 20 years old as far as human years go, why?"

"Because I've seen what can happen to people when they interact with the Shadow Broker that's why." I finished saying as people started walking down the alley.

As they approached the Turian called out, "The deal was for you to come alone, who is he?"

Shit this is going to escalate faster than I thought. "I'm her protection." I called back my voice perfectly neutral.

"Where is the shadow broker?" Talk asked. "I'll only give my information to him."

"If you won't give us the information willingly I'll guess we'll have to take it by force." He said as he reached for his gun. To bad I was faster as I shot him in the head killing him faster and proceeded to tackle Tali into cover.

As all that was happening I heard automatic fire open up on the two Salarian assassins. After talk was safe I peaked out from cover and opened up on the last assassin. After they were dead Shepard and her squad came up to where Tali and me where bunkered down, upon noticing that Shepard was not in her onyx armor I turned my gun on them.

"Hey put the gun down, we just want to talk." She called out a few meters from where we where, I simply looked to Tali who nodded and then put my gun down.

I wonder if this can play music, I wondered as I tunes out the conversation as I looked for a music system on my armor, which I eventually found and was pleasantly surprised when it had a bunch of early 2000s music downloaded, and began to listen.

Eventually Shepard came over to me and must have noticed my head nodding along to music because she tapped my visor. "Hvad vil du have?" I asked out of habit, after getting a blank stare I reiterated, "What do you need?"

"Wanted to say thank you for keeping Tali safe during the fight." She answered.

"Wasn't a problem, don't think I'm getting paid for this job though." I added absentmindedly.

"Why's that?" She asked.

"I think she was relying on getting money from them to pay me." I answered. "Ahh, it doesn't matter, I already have a small fortune to my name."

"We are going to go to the human embassy if you want to continue to help." She offered.

"Got nothing better to do, names Adrien." I said offering my hand to her.

"Welcome to the crew Adrien." She said as she shook my hand.
