Anna walked slowly to the park with her hands in her pockets. It's Valentine's Day and she didn't get anything. She sometimes got a card from someone, but not this year. She sighed and sat down on a bench. She took out her hands out of her dress pockets and watched as kids, teenagers and grownups run off and do whatever with the one they love.
Anna felt a tear run down her cheek. Jay is out with Jenny to the carnival and Sophia is hanging around with her friends. Mum and dad have each over, but I don't have anyone… Anna put her hands over her eyes. All she could hear were people playing, talking and having fun.
"Hi, Anna. Are you ok?" Anna pulled her hands away from her face. She looked up and blushed. "H-Hi, Alex…" She muttered. Alex had brown hair and light blue eyes. He was wearing blue shorts and a purple t-shirt. Alex sat next to Anna and smiled. "You haven't answered my question…" He said, Anna blushed more and looked at him. "Oh, sorry… I'm fine." She said as cheerful as she could.
Alex's smile vanished and he put a hand on her cheek. Anna felt something every time he touched her. She blushed more as Alex brushed away some tears. "You don't look ok…" Alex said, Anna put a hand over his. Alex smiled and pulled his hand away. "Are you sad because you don't have anyone this year?" He asked and Anna nodded. She then looked away. "I… I didn't get a card or a poem or a flower or anything! I always get a card every year… But not this year…" Anna muttered and Alex's smile got wider.
"Well, I came here because I wanted to give you this…" Alex said as Anna looked at him. Alex then pulled out a flower and a card and handed them to Anna. "I wanted to give you these because you've been my friend for years and I can't remember a day I haven't been with you… you make me smile and your my best friend…" Anna blushed hard and smiled a little. She then took the flower and card.
Alex smiled and Anna put her hand in her dress pocket and pulled something out. "Here… I made you this…" She whispered and pulled out a tiny teddy. Alex took it and smiled. The teddy then grew a bit bigger so it looked like a real teddy. "Thanks Anna." He whispered and Anna blushed more. Alex put the teddy down and took the flower from Anna and put it behind her ear.
Anna couldn't get any redder. She smiled and Alex giggled. "Cheer up! You will find love someday." Alex whispered in her ear and kissed her forehead. Anna's smile widened and enjoyed every moment of it. But Alex pulled away. "Happy Valentine's Day, Anna." Alex whispered, pulling her for a hug. Anna hugged back. "Happy Valentine's Day, Alex." She whispered back and out her head on his chest.
Alex smiled and pushed away any hairs that were in Anna's face. Anna smiled and closed her eyes. Thank you, Alex… I'll tell you someday… I promise.
