Something small was breaking inside of Kotone. Something small that, as time passed, expanded on as the harsh reality continued to beat down upon it's door and destroy the timid woodframe protecting it. Time is supposed to heal—but it can also destroy. A tear was wept, and a knife was swiped across a pale sliver of visible skin. Small things that reminded her that she was human. A pulse against her ear, love notes strewn across an askew board upon a colorful wall. Pictures of red hair and the jaded memories that accompanied them. A touch from a person next to her, reminding her that that time has passed. A glance at red, a kiss on the lips, and then she loses herself in him.
"Years have passed and yet you're still doing this," he yelled, trying not to lose his temper. "How much must I do? How the hell am I supposed to convince that I love you, Kotone? Tell me what's wrong, so I can fix it!" He hated losing; that was one trait he'd kept all this time.
"It's not you," a sob replied.
"Don't give me that shit. Tell me what's wrong."
"I-.. I'm sorry. I can't do this." The sound of something ruffling-a suddenly calm, yet steely voice.
"Where did you get that?"
"I'm sorry. I love you, I really do—"
"—no, Kotone, don't—"
A shot rang out in the still air. A now-limp body slumped to the floor.
