Blood

A sticky crimson flowed out of Ivan's arm, staining the sleeve of his coat. Standing before the Russian nation was Emily Jones, the United States of America. In her hand was a knife, blood stained. It had been a rough several decades for both of them.

Two wars and a political and cultural 'war' between two ideologies as different as black and white. Ivan had been troubled since the revolution that had brought forth a new regime.

Now his country was falling apart under pressure. His sisters, his servants, all separated from him, leaving Ivan to pick up the pieces. The Russian nearly took his own life with the very knife that the woman before him held in her hand, saddened by everything going wrong. If not for Emily, he would have eventually died. She saved him.

The American dropped the knife to the floor and moved toward Ivan. Placing a gentle kiss on Ivan's cheek, Emily whispered.

"I am here for you, Ivan."
