petrichor (n) - the scent of rain on dry earth

Daddy once told me that if I loved rain, I would be a pluviophile. Pluvi, for "rain," and phile, "love."

I loved rain so much. It was when the Flutterbys came out the most often, and when I could inhale the beautiful scent of petrichor after the crystalline showers fell over our garden – it was small, but it was the world to me. The soft smell of earth mingling with the sweet hints of water, water touched by the moon, Daddy told me. Water that was mine. Luna's.

And then they came.

It had to be a rainy day, didn't it…?

I don't recall the situation too well – would it be because of denial, perhaps? I can't place it as trauma, because it wasn't truly anything I hadn't been expecting. I'd seen the red scars on Neville's and Ginny's and so many others' faces after Hogwarts had…fallen…to the dark. Once they came, I knew it would just be like that, just worse. But to say the truth, I was more afraid about how Daddy would fret.

I don't recall how I fought against them, either. Although, it was fruitless, seeing as though I'd gotten caught.

And even though I've forgotten so many things – my friends would call it normal, that I'm much too dreamy, but it's not that I'm daydreaming…it's only that I'm recollecting the fragments of me, the ones that need to be rewritten – I still remember the scent of petrichor that day.

The scent of rain on dry earth, and mixed with blood.

Was it mine? Was it theirs? Both, probably.

It's so like me, to forget most everything about my abduction – not from trauma, oh no, merely just because they're considered…unimportant to me, things that cannot be rewritten but can only be piled under better memories – but to remember the scent of the rain that day.

I'm a true pluviophile.

I was fully intending to write a fem!Harry x Draco (my friends somehow convinced me to like genderbending...) story. What in the world inspired this...? Why in the world did I choose Luna Lovegood for my first HP story?

But in any case, it's my first time stepping out of Pokemon! Whee!
