Skyler's Lullaby
After Skyler's death, Skyla has trouble believing that she has anything to live for. Still, the ghost of her husband's memory touches her with love and keeps her strong.

You're never too old to love Sky Dancers!
Reality leaves a lot to the imagination

As she closed her eyes and let the cold tears stream down her face, Skyla opened her palm. A shining, fluorescent light beamed onto her face. The Sky Swirl Stone. She clutched it close to her heart, as though somehow the heart of him who had left it to her could somehow beat again.
Her husband…her whole life…was gone.
She broke into a sob. The cry was wrenched from her very heart and soul. She closed her eyes, and listened sorrowfully as his last song to her echoed in her head…
Hush now baby, don't you cry
How could she not?
Rest your wings, my butterfly
Butterfly…that was his endearment for her. It made her never want to fly again.
Peace will come to you in time…
Peace, perhaps, but all hope of happiness and love was…dead.
…and I will sing this lullaby. Know, though I must leave, my love…
Why?! Why did you have to leave me?
…that I would stay here by your side.
Why couldn't you have stayed with me forever? I never thought…never, in my wildest dreams did I think it would end like this!
If you wake before I'm gone, remember this sweet lullaby.
She had woken, in time to hear his last cry to her.
Through darkness…
So thick, so thick was the darkness clouding her heart. What was she to do now?
Don't you ever stop believing.
A strangled cry broke from her. Believing?! In what?! What was there lest to believe in? To hope for? To live for?
With love alone you'll find your way
How could he have been so sure? They had loved each other more than their own lives, and now it was over. What good could love do?
My love…
She put a hand to her face, brushing away her tears. Her husband had believed in her…had trusted her to finish what they had started. How could she abandon all that?
The world has turned the day to dark.
The day looked very dark, but their love would turn it back into light. She smiled.
I leave this night with heavy heart.
It hurt him to leave as much as it hurt me! I can't give up on him!
When I return to dry your eyes…
Yes. She got up from the floor, her crystal eyes shining through the tears. Her husband would someday return to her. Someday, it would all be right.
Someday…
I will sing this lullaby.
